There is a family in our town with the last name "Zass."
There is nowhere you can go with that that won't sound obscene.

Oh - just remembered this one.
I was once in a waiting area with a woman who was babysitting a
toddler. The strange thing was, she seemed to be swearing every
time she talked to him, even though she didn't seem the
slightest bit agitated or upset. She kept saying "d*mmit" to
him. "Come here, d*mm*t!" "Don't go near the stairs, d*mm*t."
Then, someone asked her the boy's name. Turns out, it was
"Daremid." I had never heard the name before, but I'm sure it's
a perfectly normal name somewhere. And it would be fine, except
we are in Boston, and this woman, like most of us, had a Boston
accent, and didn't pronouce the "r".

My BIL used to date a girl named Snow. Her last name was White.

FYI - Xochitl (pronounced So-Chee-til) is an Aztec name meaning
"flower." Being part Aztec, I'm fond of it, but we won't use
it. The American tongue has a hard time with the Aztec
language. My dad (not Aztec) kept pronouncing it Zock-uh-til.

No. No, no, no, no. There cannot be parents out there who are
this awful to their children. :P

I also used to work with a Merry Christmas-Cox.
Of course, my dirty mind did not only think of roosters in Santa
       hats. (I'm terrible) ;)

I had a friend who found a first and middle name combo that she
loved for baby. It worked beautifully with the last name, had a
nice nickname option, wasn't too popular, and really was all the
good things you'd want in a name for a little girl.
Her husband vetoed the name in about 3 seconds because for as
wonderful as the name was her initials would have been BED.

       I can't stop giggling at Zock-uh-til.
Today I was out to lunch and overheard the conversation at the
next table. One woman was talking about how there was a girl at
her work who was pregnant and wanted to name the child Ryder.
The child is a girl. She had to explain to this woman why it was
       a really, REALLY bad idea.

asking for the kid to be anything but chaste or honourable.

       What her last name "Shame"?

We run a classified ad paper and do a full page ad every week
for a Criminal Tip line. (That sounds funny.) There has been a
fugitive on the list since we started running the ad about 2
years ago. His mother had high hopes: Jesus Angel Lastname.
He was featured last week and under his photo it said "Have you
seen Jesus?" We caught it before it went to print though. :P
