My grandfather was a medic in DC. Once, when transporting a
woman in labor, he asked her what she was going to name her
daughter.
Gonorrhea.
Yes, she knew what it meant. She just thought it sounded so
pretty.

Confession time. :-[
My DH and I were considering Braedon if I had a boy the third
time...it was Aidan previously. Thankfully, I have all girls.
Don't shoot me, but we did spell my youngest's name differently.
I do honestly get tons of compliments on it, although my MIL
bitched about it before she was born. Her name is Caeley. Is
that awful of us to do?

I don't think it's awful, but it might throw people off when
they first read it.
A nurse told me about a couple who named their baby Sodapop. At
first she thought they were joking, but when she realized they
weren't she had to instantly put on her "oh, that's so cute
face". But, really, Sodapop?

I don't think that spelling is too weird, Heavy.
But there are so many with extraneous Ys, Hs and Xs that there's
no way on earth anyone is even going to guess that's how you
spell it. Like my name is Lisa, I think spelling it like Lisah
or Lysa is just going to cause a lot of problems for the kid.

Thanks. So far (she's 2 1/2) we haven't had any issues with it.
Actually, the problems we do have is with my middle daughter.
Her name is Brenna, but she gets "Brianna" a lot. She has
learned to politely correct anyone that needs it.

I don't think Caeley is bad, partially because that's a name
that is relatively new and has a lot of spellings anyway
(Kaylee, Kaylie, Caylee, etc). What bugs me more is when someone
takes a name with 1 or 2 traditional spellings and turns it
wacky. Like Elyssabethe or Maddalynne.
