When they ask for money, but take it back before you answer.

So my cousin sent me an interesting text recently, apparently
they needed some money to pay a bill ($30) before a certain time
to avoid the bill doubling. Then sent me another text explaining
that they were mistaken on the due date, didn't need the money
and all was well. The thing is I'm unemployed, everyone in my
family knows this and yet this is the second time I've been hit
up for cash. Trying to get loans from family is common in my
family the point being that it's very likely this will happen
again. I'm not sure if I should say something now even though
it's a few days after the request/unrequest or just wait till
the next time. I haven't been fleeced by my family yet and
technically we're both the younger generation so they haven't
robbed anyone either. I just want to know how if you would do
something now or later? The bottom line is I want to set
boundaries young and strongly.

I would have sent a text back saying "Glad you didn't need it! I
don't have any either :)"

Since a few days have passed, I'd let it go, but I like the
answer above mine

Yep, probably too late, but next time maybe ask them if they
could spot you $50 for a few days.

As the others have said, at this point I would let it go. It's
possible that they had a facepalm moment when they realized who
they texted in their desperation and that's why they sent the
retraction.
