Nick Names for Spouses, Sig Others, and close friends
   DIR By: G-Lady

Many of us had nick names for our spouses or significant others.
I referred to mine as Sweet Pattootie. But my new screen name,
I'm pondering a change for him.
Maybe Shumai, after the Japanese shrimp dumpling. He's half
Japanese, and I'm quite a bit taller than him.
The Pirate? The Cap'n? He's into pirates, and loves Captain
       Morgan.
I've often referred to my best (guy) friend as Fire Guy. He was
       a fire fighter.
What do you call your spouse or significant other? What about
       friends?

My husband actually wants me to refer to him as "the cap'n" in
real life. Not now, but when we have kids. ::) I told him no
way, unless I was the Admiral.
I don't know what I should call him here. the Slithy Tove?

I'm very creative. I call my husband Alex. Because his name is
Alex ;) I usually just use descriptive phrases otherwise. Our
old roommate who we're still good friends with is usually
Ex-Roomie. I'm sure the sheer breadth of my imagination
       astounds you all.

I have a niece named Priscilla who for a very brief while
submitted to being called Priskabibble. She doesn't like it, so
I don't call her that, but that's who she is in my mind.
I have another friend named Khasha whom I want to call
Kishy-Khasha, because I love her so much I want to squish her,
like a puppy. I keep that one to myself as well.
I used to go by Bats, and I know people who still call me that
twenty years later. I don't mind it. It's kind of sweet that I
have such a history with them. I kind of like TychaBrahe now,
and Bats is too short for an Internet handle on most sites. My
       license plate even says "Tycha."

My sister is "Ninny". Every since we were kids.
She can also go by the following:
       "The Nin"
       "Queen Ninny O' the Nins"
       "Ninny Putz".
Sometimes she calls me Putz. This all seems much stranger now
that I'm typing it all out than it does in real life...

I have a friend named Hatter. It's not really his name, but
apparently he used to wear a tophat in high school and it stuck.
       Permanently.
My friends have called me Marl since before I can remember. I
found out in high school during a European history class that
marl is a type of manure. It only made me like the nickname
       more.

I refer to my sweetie as Bagman at The Other Forum, because it's
the male equivalent of Baglady, but he comes by it honestly. We
are both "bags" in the morris dance sense of the word.
When I was actively blogging on LiveJournal, my username was
NiiceLaady (I still have that account, but only for fanfiction
purposes), and I would refer to him as NiiceDuude. When I was
president of an organization we both are active in, I took to
calling him the First Dude. Subsequently, another woman,
"Veronica," became president, and her husband, "Bob," eagerly
embraced the First Dude label. Veronica is no longer president,
but people still call Bob "First Dude."

I call my boyfriend Evil sparkles. ;D But online I mostly just
call him my boyfriend. I suck at coming up with cute names that
go with my usernames. Over on Ehell I was Yvaine, and I guess I
could have started calling him Tristram, but the character is
nothing like him and I picked Yvaine long before we started
       dating.
ETA: Evil sparkles? ;D ;D ;D That makes him sound like Edward
Cullen. I'll have you know, that's the word filter talkin'.

Pook, Boo, Kels, Tuds, Sug. For etiquette forum purposes,
Lapis. (I told him my screenname, and he picked his own.)

I've considered looking up the Portugese for Badger King, but I
suspect it will be confusingly close to RainhaDoTexugo, and
people who are reading quickly will think I'm referring to
myself in the third person for some reason.
