I would go for the quiches, too. The last thing I would give a
small digestive system is broccoli (but well - that's my own
icky experience!).

Quiche is a french word, and french food is by definition fancy.
Babies don't eat fancy french food. When babies eat quiche they
magically revert to being egg tarts.
Yes, yes, I know that french babies eat french food. Let's not
apply logic here! That would be as silly as expecting everyone
to know that the quiche were only for the babies without telling
them!

My kid loved quiche around that age, but that's not the point
really. If you do not want to serve something to everyone at a
gathering, you won't put it in the same display as all other
food.
This is just silly.

It was just one of those stupid things where it seems so weird
that you start to wonder if you're crazy. I thought maybe
quiche suddenly became a fashionable baby treat or something and
I missed the memo.
I'm also a real stickler when it comes to hosting, so I always
assume my standards are probably too strict. That's why I like
posting hosting/event planning questions, the different
perspective really helps me figure out when I've got a stick up
my butt or when I'm being reasonable.

If it's on the buffet table, it's fair game. I absolutely would
have eaten the quiche.
I do think of quiche as a toddler and older baby-friendly food
but they don't scream "toddler food only, not for adults" at
all.

Love mini quiches!
You'd be lucky if the ADULTS got some if I was there.
Just kidding of course.
Kind of.
As others have said, that was unreasonable for the hosts to
expect you to deduce "baby food" from quiche.

You all were absolutely fine, the hosts were nutty on multiple
levels and broccoli is divine. In fact, get that filthy quiche
away from my broccoli!

No. I don't like broccoli. More quiche for the babies!
Seriously, that's a weird thing to expect everyone to just KNOW.

That is just so bizarre. It wouldn't occur to me that it was
only for kids. My son ate mini-quiche around 18 months, but
that was bc he would eat anything in miniature version. Since
you clarified that they were cupcake size, it definitely
wouldn't occur to me that it's toddler-food; seems messy. They
had fruit salad - why not scoop some into a blender and do
smoothies for the kids? And the antipasto platter - lots of
tiny finger food there that would seem kid-friendly: cheese,
crackers, small portions of meat.
I could see myself making true mini (inch and half wide or so)
quiches for this type of party, but in a quantity to feed
everyone. It seems sophisticated enough for the adults, but
small enough for little hands. Really, really strange to limit
that particular thing to toddlers, though. And hella-rude to
pull it from the table.

Reading the OP, I had to check and make sure it was indeed a
kids' party. I love quiche and they'd have been lucky if I'd
stopped at one.
