Titanic 3D anyone going? And why the hate?

I don't get the hate. Is it bc it was so popular so ppl have to
go against the groan? Of course it's historically inaccurate.
There was no necklace. There was no Rose and Jack. The Old Rose
never revisited the sunken ship bc she never existed. Billy Zane
was never there. It's a fictional story built around a
historical event. (Hollywoid would do that???) I personally
always liked the movie. I saw it in Theatres back in the day. I
loved Braveheart too, another film based on historical events
but spun into a completely fictional story. I just don't get the
hate. And yes, I will probably see it in 3D just bc It was such
a different experience In the theatre vs on TV. I admit it got
tiresome with all the hype 15 years ago, but that was fifteen
       years ago. Anyone with me?

I have to say I got a little tired of the "the ship is sinking,
so let's run back down and almost get drowned" eleventy-billion
       times.

I saw it when it was first released and several times when it
came out on video(!), but I doubt I will see it again. The only
movies I watch over and over again are the ones I LOVED.

I'm there too. I saw it in the theaters twice and loved it. Then
I saw it several more times on video/TV and lost most of my
patience with it, mostly for the suspense scenes where the ship
is starting to sink but Jack and Rose are still on it. The
"narrow escapes from death" stuff started to feel pointless
because I already knew who would live and who would die, if that
makes any sense, so I just couldn't work up a lot of enthusiasm
over whether (for example) Rose manages to break Jack out when
he's handcuffed and locked up. But it was definitely good for
       one or two watches.

       Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
Are you trying to tell me that... Billy Zane doesn't actually
       exist?
       Noooooooooooo!

For me, it was one of those movies that I loved the first time I
saw it, during the first theater run when I was a teenager, and
even went to see it in the theaters again, and then it lost its
       luster.
I'm with others that it was hard to maintain the suspense of
will they survive or won't they, but also, my sense of what
constitutes "a great romance" has changed as well.
And I hate, hate the scene where Rose declares passionately
"I'll never let you go, Jack," and then immediately pushes him
       underwater.

For me, I was tired of all the hype around it. It was a good
movie, but it wasn't the end-all be-all of movies. I have
similar feelings about Avatar and the Twilight series - I got so
fed up with all the advertising, all the hype, and everyone
talking about them that I ended up refusing to see them.
It didn't help that I was working at Blockbuster when it came
out for rent/purchase and we were forced to constantly push
pre-sale. We ended up putting WAAAAY too many copies out on the
shelf for rent. Most people who were fans had bought their copy
on pre-sale. Most of the copies that went on the wall for rent
ended up being sold later as "Previously Viewed" without ever
       having been viewed.
