I saw a status of a friend defending her city after someone
commented on it. It got me thinking, what part of your city do
you hear often and it's wrong and what is great about your
specific area that is little known? You can do cities you lived
in if there are more than one.
I will start,
Miami Beach, FL
It isn't all drugs on every corner. It's a vibrant melting pot
of a place and very cool. Lincoln Road Mall is a blast to walk,
eat, and window shop.
Charlotte, NC
It isn't all rednecks and rebels here. :D But at the same
token, there are alot of really cool artisan/organic farms that
have amazing stuff to eat and see.

I'm in Houston.
No, it's not close to Dallas.
No, we don't have oil wells in our back yards.
No, we don't have longhorns on the hoods of our Cadillacs.
(Everyone knows you put those on your golf cart.)

In Houston too. I agree 100% with Xenalyte.
To add - believe it or not, we have an orchestra, a ballet
company, and an opera company. We also have some world class
theater. We are so much more than Oil and Rodeo.

Louisiana. Do I really need to say it's not The State of New
Orleans?
We do, however, have stupidly corrupt politics and the best food
and music in the nation. Those things cannot be overestimated.

Australia. No, I'm not drunk all the time and we don't all eat
shrimp, irrespective of where it's been cooked.
I should also point out it's never appropriate to pull a knife
out of your pocket when you're in a pub. Bad idea.

I live in Kentucky.
We wear shoes, have indoor plumbing, don't marry our
cousins/brothers/sisters, and not all of us live on farms.
