I've got my ticket bought for Sunday! Some people from our
bookclub are all going together, we read Hunger Games a couple
       of months ago.

Just bought our tickets for Saturday morning, yay for $5 movies!
That being said, totally didn't care for the ending/epilogue.
It's like she spent the first 2 & 1/2 books leading us one way,
and then BAM, new direction and we're just supposed to be like,
"Oh yeah, that totally makes sense. I'd buy it."
       No...

My friends and I saw the 11:30 showing today, and my jaw is
still on the floor. It was amazing.

I just came back from it ;D. I thought it was overall very
       good.
       SPOILERS AHEAD!
My biggest quibble is that I didn't get a sense as to why Rue
was so important to Katniss and why she cares when she dies.
It's sort "Here's a small child! Now she's dead!". The same with
Peeta's medicine. The movie made it seem like he had a bit of a
fever and, had I not read the book, I wouldn't have know why she
had to go to the feast.

In hindsight, those two things stand out. I think while watching
the movie I was filling things in that'd I'd read and didn't
       notice it. Oh well!
Otherwise, I feel they were very wise with the minor changes
they made from the book (Like Seneca and the nightlock).

Yes, I liked most of the changes. The chariot scene was as
breathtaking as I imagined it in the book, though I would have
preferred if they'd made the ride longer. The interview dress I
hated and, despite having read interviews, I still disagree with
why it was changed from the book description. Plus Cina wouldn't
rely in the same trick twice ;).

Overall, I liked the movie a lot. But did they ever address why
Peeta initially hooked up with the tributes from Districts 1 and
2 when they were trying to find Katniss? It bugged me that
there was never a discussion about that in the movie.
And one thing I liked that they couldn't have put in the books
was all the behind the scenes stuff with the gamemakers and with
Haymitch finally stepping up and getting the sponsors.

I agree that they didn't do a good job establishing her
relationship with Rue. We knew nothing about her when she died
in the movie, unlike the book.
I also think that anyone watching who hadn't read the books
would have a hard time getting why it was so important for
Katniss to create the relationship with Peeta. The gifts could
make the difference between life and death, but you really
didn't get that sense of urgency in the movie.
I'm also ticked off that Thresh got such a crappy death.
Instead of having him fight for his life with Cato, they killed
him off with the mutts. :-[
Overall, I really liked it though. I about peed my pants when
the mutts jumped out at them though. ;D

I liked it a lot! I haven't read the books in a long time, so
my memory is fuzzy, but there are a couple things that stood out
to me. I would have liked it made clearer that Katniss was so
cold and calculating. She was a little too likeable in the
movie. I wanted to see the contrast between her loving, soft
side (with Rue and Prim) and her all business, do what it takes
side, like with her "romance" with Peeta.
I wanted to hear more about why the mockingjay pin was
important, too. So it's a bird, big deal. Considering that the
third book is named for the bird, maybe they should take two
       minutes to explain its significance.
I also was underwhelmed by the fire dress. I haven't read the
interviews that explained it - what was their reasoning? It was
just so blah. The actual flame effect was cool, but I expected
something layered and gauzy and firey, not a blah dress with a
       couple rhinestones.

       Rainha, here's a link:
  HTML http://www.myhungergames.com/the-hunger-games-costume-designer-on-katniss-interview-dress<br
/>. They were concerned about it being cheesy and making it
       about
the dress, not Katniss. Like that's going to happen. ::)
