I'm excited too. I can't wait to see the people at the Capital
       - I loved their descriptions in the books, so I hope the movie
does it well. I'm also excited to see Katniss and Peta's "fire"
       costumes.

Early reviews are in and they're a rave. ;D I now have hope
that despite the fact that I don't like the main casting much
and I'm not very happy about one of the changes they made, I'll
       like the movie.

I can't wait! Right now I'm trying to figure out the best time
to go. My bf works the night it opens, so I could possibly go
earlier that day, but my sister/group of friends are probably
going that night. I may just have to suffer and go twice!

I'm still trying to figure out why they appear to have cut Marge
out with the whole mockingjay pin. I'm curious to see how they
       work that and why.

Me too, Nerdling. It's such a weird change - they're going to
have to have the pin, so why not keep her? It's a ridiculously
long movie anyway, I don't think it would have made that much of
       a difference.

Okay... I liked these books, I really did. The writing wasn't
too good, but the story was engaging and kept me reading.
I hated the ending. It completely did not jive with the
tone/writing/etc of the book. I understand wanting to have a
"realistic" ending, but that should keep in line with the book
and the characters, which, in my opinion, this ending most
       definitely did not.
In fact, I hated the ending so much, I don't know if I'm going
to see the movie despite my enjoyment of the first two books. :(
Oh, and if they had to sedate her so she didn't have an
emotional breakdown one more time, I was going to throw the
       book.
Anyone else feel the way I do?

I was a little underwhelmed by the ending, but I liked it. I
liked that the author acknowledged the fact that there could be
no possible happy ending for these characters, but they were
just doing the best they could.
What didn't you like about it? I'm actualy having a hard time
remembering the specifics, as it's been awhile.

I wish she'd left off the epilogue, but I felt like most of the
rest of the ending fell in line with what we had seen of Snow
and what's her name in District 13.

I knew that something had to happen with the new president, but
the rest of it - Prim's death, the massacre of the children,
thevassassination, katniss voting for Hunger Games, going back
to District 12... None of it fit

I loved how totally scarred and screwed up the whole thing made
her. At first I was frustrated with her, because of course she's
going to end up as the symbol for the resistance, she's the main
character! However, the more I thought about it the more I liked
how brave it was for the author to go the other way, without
glossing over what having to kill or be killed would actually do
       to a teenager.
