We have something you'll want, so NOW you decide to make nice?

BG: DH has had it with his mother and his sister. After his
sister uninvited me from her wedding, DH took a stand and said
"I'm not attending your wedding without my wife". Two days
before the wedding, his sister and her best friend had nothing
better to do than call me up and scream at me that I'm a
"Tuesday" as DH refers to them (as in, see you next...). DH
blocked all their numbers on his cell phone, and completely cut
off all contact. We see his mother once every 2 weeks, not
socially, but in passing at an appointment, and do not speak to
any of them at all.
Fast forward to this week. I get a phone call from FIL, at 6:45
AM. First of all, he's not even programmed into my phone- which
means the last time he called me was a year and a half ago.
Second, as far as he knows I'm unemployed (have 2 jobs and a
couple of projects) and I am of the opinion that I am not awake
before dawn unless I'm getting paid or I haven't gone to bed
yet. Third- he called to let me know I had a piece of mail at
his house that was 4 months old. Really?
Today, DH gets a phone call from his sister. He ignores it.
The kicker is, in a very short period of time, we will have
something that they want. They've ignored us altogether through
the holidays (surprising, actually), and it has been months
since we've had a conversation with any of them.
What's the most polite but most scathing way to say "You are
only coming around because we will soon have something you want.
You've made it abundantly clear that we're not important at all
by your actions. Go pound sand."

Personally, I'd just ignore, ignore, ignore. Delete messages
without listening, delete emails without reading.
I'm curious about the "Tuesday" reference, but maybe I'm just
missing something. Either way, though, they had no right to
call you and scream at you!

Star- C U Next Tuesday (I think!).
Anyway, totally agree...just completely ignore them. I wouldn't
even bother telling them you know their game, they probably
already know how transparent they're being.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. We just shorten it to Tuesday
to be able to say it around the kids, and because our phones
don't like the real word. We make up our own swears and insults
for fun.
And I am willing to bet that THEY know they're doing it, but
think that we won't notice because it is before we have the
thing that they want.
I'm also willing to bet that some of it has to do with the fact
that they believe they can draw DH back into the fold with news
of his sister's pregnancy. Found that one out earlier, and
realized "so THAT's why we haven't gotten any midnight drunken
phone calls from her in the last few months".

I also agree with just ignorning them. Unless your DH wants to
mend fences (and in his place, I sure wouldn't), just cut them
off completely.
Also, I hope you now have FIL's number blocked too.

I'm going to third the "ignore them" advice. Why invite the
crazy back in when you don't have to?

I"m curious as to what the thing they want is. I'm hoping hot
tub!
For the rest of it, continue as you are doing, and follow the
advice of the other sages here...

Ignoring these people is the best way forward, I absolutely
agree.

I agree that ignoring is the best option. I actually replied to
tell you I laughed out loud when I figured "Tuesday" out!
