It seems like any book with young protagonists gets the YA
label. A lot of YA books, like The Hunger Games, are not only
great reading for adults, but are too dark or intense for a lot
of kids. I'd love to see a more accurate labeling system.

I am reading "The hunt and capture of Radovan Karadzic" (imagine
that with the appropriate Serbian accents on the letters).
It is interesting, but the author jumps around a lot between
then and now. At least he puts the "flashbacks" in italics.

I just started Death Comes to Pemberley by PD James -- it's a
"sequel" to Pride and Prejudice. I also have a few of the Irene
Kelly books by Jan Burke in the queue.

I'll have to let you know. I'm only 20 pages in, nothing much
has happened so far ... Darcy and Elizabeth are planning a ball
in honor of his mother.

"The First American Army" by Bruce Chadwick. It's a look at the
Revolutionary War through the eyes and journals of a series of
soldiers, a doctor, and a chaplain. I'm not usually a big
history book reader, but I'm enjoying it so far.

I've been reading Death Comes to Pemberley, and I have to say
I've been a little disappointed. I haven't read any other PD
James, so I don't know what her usual voice is like, but the
writing in this feels very stilted, like she's trying too hard
to speak in Austen's voice but it doesn't come naturally. I
also feel like I've been reading and reading and reading, but
very little has actually happened, but I guess you could say
that of most Austen books, too (and I love Austen, so that's not
a slam). I guess it's not bad, but it's not great, either.
Which is probably why I haven't finished it yet, although it's
been on my e-reader for a couple of months.

I like PD James' regular writing style -- it reminds me a little
bit of Agatha Christie. The faux-Austen overly stilted style,
not so much.
