Nothing ever feels quite right. [Evening, open]

A small framed girl sat along a rooftop of the city, the evening
sun casting shadows along the alleyways. The soft breeze caught
her emerald locks causing them to sway gently in the wind. Her
amber eyes followed the sea off into the horizon and she sighed.
[I]"Another day, another feeling like I
don't belong in this world.". With a second sigh she
quickly took the form of a calico cat, as it fit in better in
these parts, and wandered along the roof.

Leyin stood, back facing the sunset as he thought to himself.
How did a few boats become such a sprawling city? How long could
it really last? All of the effort that wnet into this had to
have been strenuous to say the least. It would oneday go the way
of everything. He sighed and lowered his head when the wind
gently blew on his hair which in turn tickled his ears a little.
He smiled to himself. "I suppose you're right." he said to the
wind. There was no use in getting depressed over things. Just
enjoy the moment.
That's when he heard a small sound somewhere behind him. he
turned to see a cat walking along the roof.
"Hey." he said with a small laugh. "Here kitty kitty." he called
quietly while holding out his hand towards it.
Wasn't too often one came across cats outdoors since there was
so much water.

The calico feline's ears perked at the sou d of a voice. Her
footsteps slowed with a soft pitter patter before she seated
herself and turned her amber eyes to inspect the boy. The cats
eyes at first glance seemed to carry a standard expression, but
at second glance seemed deeper than that. Her tail flicked
behind her as she moved her gaze from the boys face once she had
finished her study and settled on his hand. Slowly she stood
and took another step sniffing at his hand, again familiarizing
herself with the being in front of her. Was he friend or foe?

Leyin looks down at the cat and smiles. "Hey there." he said
with a smile. He lightly patted her head as he spoke. "What are
you doing way up here? Not too excited about the water either
huh?"
He tried to remember if he'd had a little snack in his bag, but
didn't want to turn away to look in fear that the cat would run
away.
Leyin didn't really talk to others much, so he was happy with
interactions with anyone, animal or human.

At the boys reaction the godling of earth determined he wasn't
an enemy at least not at this moment. For a second she
twitched as he scratched at her head, but her feline instincts
of her current form quickly kicked in. She moved her head ever
so slightly so he could scratch at her ears.
At his question her tail flicked softly and the cat mewled
almost as if it could understand his words.

He gently scratched behind her ears when he realized that this
wasn't the easiest place to get to.
"Say, how did get up here anyway?" he paused for a moment. Of
course she wouldn't answer. Cats didn't talk. "It's pretty
amazing isn't it?" he asked, taking a glance over the floating
village of ships and boats cobbled together. The bright sun
seemed to set everything ablaze as it sat directly on the
horizon. Everything glistened in bright golden light as people
busily moved amungst themselves along the various bridges and
makeshift streets that made up this manmade island.
"You know, a lot of the wood used to make this place was said to
have come from Kenro's forest..." he paused at this as a small
prick of sadness tugged at his heart. "That's where my mother
was born." he said this a bit softer and looked down for a
moment. He then perked up and looked back at the cat. "Oh, but
they also say that one of the reasons this place is so sturdy is
because it was based off of a place in a book from The Great
Library in the God of knowledge's own domain!" Leyin started to
speak a little faster. "And the most exciting part is that it's
said that the very book is somewhere in this village!" his eyes
were lit with excitement. "Just think, an actual book from The
Great Library is in THIS village!" He stopped.
"Um, sorry." he said in a quieter more calm voice. "You don't
care about any of that, you just want pats." he scratched behind
her ears again. "But that's okay too." he smiled at the cat and
looked at its eyes. There was something interesting about them.
"Hmm..." he thought for a moment with his hand on her head.
There seemed to be something different about this cat, but he
couldn't quite put his finger on what it was... oh well, he had
taken a liking to her, whatever the difference was.

The cat began to purr softly as he scratched behind her ears.
As the boy continued on his one sided conversation she gave soft
mewls where appropriate as answers. She glanced from him to the
streets below. When he mentioned the forest she tensed for a
moment. Her mind immediately envisioning running amoungst the
trees. Her nature called to her as she thought about it,
putting and mewling softly. Her eyes shifted of a green for a
moment, before going back to amber as the boy watched.

He felt the cat tense up a bit before relaxing again.
He looked at her again as he thought he saw the eyes change for
just a moment. He knew some people of the Earth could shape
shift, but he didn't want to draw conclussions. .
"Say, what's your name?" He paused as she meowed again. "Ahaha,
right." he thought for a moment. He was about to suggest one,
but something didn't feel right about doing that. He couldn't
figure out what, but it seemed somehow rude. "Hmm... I have to
call you something." He looked at her for a bit longer,
thinking.
"Well my name's Leyin. Nice to meet you." After another meow in
response, he raised his eyebrows. "Haha, you know just what to
say, don't you?" He sat for a moment in silence, just letting
the cool breeze move through his hair. He squinted a little as
the salty scent of the sea reached his nose.
"There was a time when there were extremely large pieces of land
other than the forest. Stories talked about them having all
sorts of large buildings and large open fields. ... I wonder
what those smelt like." He knew that statement sounded weird,
but the entire idea of him talking to a cat was weird in and of
itself, so what did it matter at this point. He missed the short
time he was able to spend in the forest as a child. Most had
either never been there or didn't really care to talk about it,
so it was nice to be able to think back on it with someone; even
if that someone was a cat.
"Those were some of the largest trees... in Kenro's forest I
mean. They were even large compared to what books and stories
talked about. They were said to have been earth gods at one
point." he thought back to playing in them as a child.
he tilted his head and smiled. "Something tells me you would've
really loved it there." he then sighed and looked down again.
"You never know how much you miss something until you can no
longer reach it."

As the two talked, unknown to them a young man sat with his back
against the wall and his eyes closed. His blonde hair rustled in
the soft breeze that blew through the boulevard. A pair of cat
ears that matched his hair almost perfectly, flicked around on
his head; picking uo the sounds of the young man and cat. He
wasnt snooping, but would they understand that? He couldnt risk
it. He'd stay quiet until they were done.

The cat continued to mewl in response where appropriate.
Internally Sayomi smirked as he tried to figure out something to
call her. This wasn't the first one the last time something
akin to that would happen. Sometimes it was amusing to see what
people gravitated too.
As he spoke of the lands of the past and the forest, the cat
mewled sadly. There was nothing Sauomi wanted more than to have
more land. It was where she felt at home. With all this water
the earth godling was always out of place. She rested her chin
on her paws and gave a sigh, much like a human would do.
