Being Prepared In Case Of Hydro Outage!!

You should always be prepared in case of emergency, these are a
few simple things to do if you know a storm is coming in or even
in the heat waves of summer!!
1. Always keep a 2 liter bottle of water in your fridge.
2. Having a can opener that is not electric (yeah it may be
hard to work but you can eat lol)
3. Have several large candles ( size does matter those tea
candles will only last a short time... for the bathroom if you
have an old rusted cake pan and a large candle you can place it
inside the pan and not have to worry about a fire best place to
keep it is in a tub or sink as long as there are no curtains or
towels hanging nearby>)
4. Always wise to have crackers in the house, peanut butter,
cheese whiz, jam...
5. Extra blankets.
6. If need be, be prepared to move a matress to the living room
or any room that is more closed in for winter months and can be
shut down from rest of house, lighting a few candles and keeping
everyone in one room will keep the heat in and you can make it
into a pretend campout so children don't get scared...
7. If hydro is going to be out for long periods, if you have
the solar powered lights for yard they work great also if
brought inside at night to light the room...
8. Always have some extra gas on hand because if the hydro goes
out for long periods you won't be able to get gas at gas
station... if you have to leave the city or town you are in no
gas means you will be walking...
9. Always have a plan of where to meet family members if an
emergency situtation occurs...
10. Yes, we love our possessions, but what wouldn't you want to
leave behind and can it be packed in less than ten minutes!!!
11. I have a bin filled with three changes of clothes for each
person in the family... thus we don't have to look for what we
need.
12. I have a bin that could hold photos, papers, meds that can
be easily grabbed.... knowing where important stuff is is very
important in an emergency...
13. If you have to leave the home, have a bin or box for quick
foods staples, have water, have a hand can opener, at least one
sharp knife, spoon & fork, plate and bowl (pot can work for
bowl)
14. Make sure you take blankets and a couple of towels.... they
don't take up room if you lay them across the vechile seats...
15. Again make sure you have matches, candles etc....
If you follow these steps you can and will be prepared for
anything that comes your way....
