Choc-Chip-Oat Cookies!!!

250 mL
(1 cup) margarine or butter, softened 425 mL
(1 3/4 cups) all purpose flour
300 mL
(1 1/4 cups) firmly packed brown sugar 5 mL
(1 tsp) baking soda
125 mL
(1/2 cup) granulated sugar 2 mL
(1/2 tsp) salt
2 eggs 625 mL
(2 1/2 cups) QuakerŽ Oats (any variety, uncooked)
30 mL
(2 tbsp) milk 1 12-ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
10 mL
(2 tsp) vanilla 250 mL
(1 cup) coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
Heat oven to 190°C (375°F). Beat together margarine and sugars
until creamy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. Add
combined flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in oats,
chocolate chips and nuts; mix well. Drop by rounded
tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9 to 10 minutes
for a chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool
one minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. Cool
completely. Store tightly covered.
Variations:
-Substitute 250 mL (1 cup) (any combination of ) raisins, diced
dried mixed fruit, crushed toffee pieces or candy coated
chocolate pieces for 250 mL (1 cup) chocolate chips.
-Add 5 mL (1 tsp) ground cinnamon and 1 mL (1/4 tsp) ground
nutmeg to dry ingredients. Substitute 250 mL (1 cup) of raisins
for chocolate chips.
Bar Cookies: Heat oven to 190°C (375°F). Press dough evenly onto
bottom of ungreased 33 x 23 cm (13 x 9 inch) baking pan. Bake 35
to 40 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely; cut
into bars. Store tightly covered. Yields 36 bars.
