Instance 6

Dear Corps,
I was wondering if you could tell me how much firepower I would
need for instance 6.
I have 6 fleets, 1000 missilis, 1000 golem, 2000 laser, 2000
artillery.
Will that do? I aim for very little loses.
Thanks a bunch!

Honestly, I have no idea. Good strategy is to just start the
instance. And if you notice that your ships are exploding faster
than those pirate ships, just press the 'end instance button'
(botton right corner, the one with square in it).

My I7 no-loss fleet
Now what you are seeing is my frigate fleet, consisting of
valkyrie-III & Go Getter-III.
The Valkyrie fleet has following components:
1-Energy Shield Booster III
1-Particle Stun Shield III
1-Heat Diffusion Shield III
1-Space Time Magnetic Shield III
1-Grav.Maint. Facility III
4-Super Transmission Engine
2-"Tempest" Rapid Fire III
2-"Wiseman" Scatter Bomb III
2- Orbital Shields
2-Atomic Frameworks
The Go-Getter fleet:
The same as valkyrie til you reach the weapon modules, then
it's:
4-"Tempest" III
2-"Wiseman" III
And that completes the ship designs

That's a pretty solid design for the Valkerie if I've ever seen
one. :) Good job!

So, since I'm new to this and all, how would you arrange your
fleets. Would you have one commander with all Frigates, one with
all Battleships, etcetera?
Also, would it be better to do your example above for the
valkarye for all ships in a fleet, or is it more beneficial to
have a front row of 'blocker' ships that have no weapons, just
all shields and defenses to repel the attacks of the enemy,
allowing the rear ships to shoot, usually with missiles or
longer range to keep them facing the fleet at a distance so they
can not attack from the side?
Thanks!

I usually pair my commanders up with a particular hull and
weapon. So I have a commander that is A in missiles and B in
battleships, so they command the Missile Battleship fleet. Maybe
with some Missile Cruisers from the corps mall thrown in for
fun.
As for layouts... weapon-free tanks work wonders. Especially
when the instances start to get harder and you don't have the
hulls or tech upgrades to make a ship that has enough shields
and weapons. You can put them on the front row to absorb a lot
of damage. This really helped me get through I7 and I8. You have
to try different fleet orders and commands to see what
combination will keep the enemy in front of you.
One problem early on in I8 is that I kept getting flanked on the
left side. So what I ended up doing is laying out the fleet like
this (front is to the right)
TTT
BBT
BBT
After I got my shield tech tree sufficiently researched my
normal ballistic fleets could take the blows when flanked.
For my long-range missile and carriers, I usually don't put
tanks on them and keep them at Max Distance. Have to watch for
enemy fleets that are set to target Max Attack because these
fleets might be the highest on the field just due to their
weapon type. Either add tanks to the front row and don't let
them get flanked. Or only bring in Ballistics and Directional
fleets.

Thanks for that Culture. I made some 'tanks' full of straight
Energy Shield Booster 3 upgrades. The flanking was indeed a
problem, so I had to make one fleet go out and 'take it' with
closest target and closest range selected for battle commands,
while other fleets were far away throwing missiles.
Looks like I was doing it right with commander to fleet options.
I tried to make a fleet exclusively one type of ship
(frigate...).
Taking the advice of way2insane I made some ships with a
multitude of defenses. Wow. What a difference that makes.
