This is mainly for US citizens...but always been interested in
what people outside of the states thinks bout people and events.
My personal opinion on whichever becomes President is thus:
WE'RE SCREWED

I think that either a retard wins,
or a person that didn't fix much during his previous mandate...
so I don't think much wil change if he wins again...

What ever happened to picking the better candidate? It seems now
as if the selection is "which candidate is less worse than the
other".
Where's Ross Perot when ya need him? :D

I'm not from the US, but that's what you get with a two party
system. Not much of a choice.
Although it's beginning to be like that even here in Finland
where we have 4 large parties and a group of smaller ones.
Doesn't really matter which party you vote for. Nothing ever
changes. There was a big shake up in the last parliamentry
elections, but the party that skyrocketed from obscurity to
large party status decided that they'll rather sit in the
opposition. They are our right winger nuts. Anti EU, anti
emigration, pro military and so on.
Nowadays a lot of the higher level decision making takes place
at EU level. There's talk about how the EU is becoming a
federation like the US, but as far as I see we're pretty much
there already.
If the proposed changes go through and EU gets to decide whether
or not it actually approves of a member states budget (Euro
countries only) , then we've basically signed over our foreign
and economic policies to the EU. EU regulations also supercede
our national laws, so if EU we're to decide that police has to
wear Hello Kitty backpacks, we'd have to do it after a few years
of dragging our feet. They aren't at that level of nitpicking
yet, but they do decide how curved our cucumbers can be :p
That was a 'bit' of topic, but still :)

I had no idea how powerful the EU has gotten. That was very
enlightening. I still can't believe the two party system has
lasted as long as it has, and thing have not been in complete
deadlock for all decisions... just the majority of them. Nice
to hear the political views from across the pond since I visit
often enough that I should have some basic knowledge of what is
going on.
The one thing that I absolutely hate the European Union for is
making the Euro... simply because I enjoyed collecting the
money from other countries for the artwork and story telling
value of it. Now all I get is a damn Euro... and by the way,
what is the matter with the people who cut the damn Euro bills?
Make the $100 the same damn size as the $5, or $20, or whatever
size... just make them all uniform. Who was the genius that
decided that?
You're not the only one that can go off topic Wainaa!!

We don't really have a two party system here Wainaa, it just
appears that way. Oh both parties put on a good show of being
antagonistic, but if you look at the major policies enacted by
both democratic & republican presidents you'll see the farce for
what it really is.
Take the Patriot Act for example, enacted by Bush, Obama
promised to nullify it...but instead entrenched it further & to
add insult to injury, gave us the NDAA legislature.
Which pretty much gives the president assination priveledges &
the right to hold even United States Citizens indefinetly with
no crime being charged or even a trial to prove their innocents.
