Starbright- A Reptilian Story-Chapter 3 Now Complete!

Hi, all! I will be updating this thing at least once a week, so
check on it if you want to read the story until the end. Here
we go!
[center]~~Prologue~~[/center]
In the land of Karthor, a tribe of Sauris watch the sun
dip below the distant horizon. The stars begin the shine as the
sun leaves into its 3 month night. At the land of the north,
there is almost no sunlight in the Summer, so the tribe plans to
migrate south, to the plains. "We must leave, now!" shouted
the tribe's leader, Zequis. He motioned for the rest of the
Sauris to move along. "There is no time to waste!" Liona, a
female Sauris was carrying her hatching, Karoon. With her, was
her son, Carshan and daughter, Tikar. A path of dust was behind
the tribe, as Liona stumbled behind. Breathing heavily, she
tried to catch up, but it was no use. The tribe had left far
ahead, without even noticing Liona's absence.
Liona knew what she must do. In order to run and catch up,
Karoon must be left behind. Sadness crept over here as she lay
the bundle of blankets on a flat rock. "Goodbye, my child.
Maybe I will see you one day." Then, in an instant, she raced
off with Carshan and Tikar, deeply knowing that she will never
see Karoon again.
A few hours later, Karoon awoke lost and alone. There
was no mother there to feed her, no siblings to help care for
her. Karoon poked her nose out of the blankets and saw a dark,
tundra-like world. "Ma?" She yelled as loud as she could. The
was no answer at all. Aurora Borialis shone above, accompanying
the infant Sauris. They seemed to say, "You are not alone, even
with your family gone, forever." Karoon's eyes filled with
tears, understanding the message of the aurora.
[center]~~ Chapter 1~~[/center]
Karoon slowly turned her head to the sun, rising over the
North Mountains. The Spring had finally come, giving back the
daylight that had once been lost. It had been 12 years since
Karoon had last seen any of her kind, for it seemed the
migration led them to a land of rich vegetation and prey.
Karoon did not remember her family or tribe, for she had lived
alone in the Karthor tundra. In the dark winters, there was
little food, just a few berries and fish. When Spring came, the
Kuezeq returned to the cool, misty meadows of grass in the
North. This was when Karoon ended her yearly starvation.
Grabbing her bow and arrows, Karoon traveled by sled to
the meadows. In the meadow, thousands upon thousands of Keuzeq
gather in the grass, eagerly consuming the grass. This single
herd was led by a large, proud male. He possesed a dark "mane"
of fur on his neck and towered above all others. Karoon knew
that this leader would provide a good Spring meal, but her
target was surrounded by other large males. She soon decided
that a female Kuezeq would be an ideal hunt. There was an
elderly cow, whom seemed to be plump with grass. Karoon quickly
dove behind the few bushes in the area and waited for the cow
Kuezeq to seperate herself from the herd. After about 2 hours
of patient waiting, the Kuezeq finally noticed a big, juicy
patch of grass far from the herd. She hobbled over to it as
Karoon picked an arrow dipped in Bakune Berry juice, a poison
berry, and drew her arrow back.
Karoon angled the arrow for the heart of the cow, when
she released it. The arrow flew faster than a Serpentis at the
beating heart of the Kuezeq. At the moment of contact, the
poison did its job. It had infected the heart, causing an
instant, painless death. With other poisons, this would have
destroyed the meat, but a Bakune Berry only infects the heart,
nothing more. Karoon plucked the arrow out of the Kuezeq and
loaded the body onto the sled to take it home.
After a nice dinner of Kuezeq, Karoon blew out her
candles and settled in her animal skin tent. Slowly and
silently, she drifted off into a sleep, undisturbed by any
creatures that happened to come by.
[center]~~Chapter 2~~[/center]
Karoon slowly stretched her arms wide and yawned. The sun
was finally rising, at midday. The Northern Pole's days are
slowly growing longer, until there will be a three month day.
Karoon disliked the Summer, as she could not sleep, no matter
how hard she tried. Suddenly, there was a big crack! "Oh no!
The ice shelf!" Karoon shreiked. There was a single ice shelf
on each pole, but it was a wonder how it was even formed over
Winter. Each Summer, the big ice shelf would flood a small part
of the tundra, but this year was large, very large.
Karoon poked out of her tent and saw a landslide of ice
falling in the distance. It would only be a matter of days
before the entire tundra would flood, sweeping everything out to
sea. The Kuezeq will flee immediatly, and Karoon planeed to
follow them. She had never gone South before, and she wondered
what it was like. Packing her things, the young Sauris traveled
by sled to the meadow she had been in before. The Kuezeq were
surely stampeding away at the noise, for the ice was
cracking---fast. There was not a single moment without an
ear-peircing crack. As Karoon followed the herd, she saw a
danger like nothing before. The ocean was rising and filling
the river that the Kuezeq had crossed before. They were meant
to return when the water went down, not up. All of the Kuezeq
jumped into the water anyways, not even acknowledging the
dangers beneath.
Karoon had discovered a year ago that strange creatures
roamed the seas. She had called them Aquapins, for the barreled
through the water and stabbed their prey with sharp, killer
teeth. Almost nothing can escape, except for a Crocodilius, the
masters of armor. Karoon knew that Aquapins must be dwelling
the rising waters, waiting for a Kuezeq to come close enough.
The only way to get across was to go in the middle of the crowd,
so Karoon realized some things must be left behind. The food
would be wrapped in the tent and slung around her back. Her bow
would be held in her hand. Any tools, trinkets and sleds were
left behind. Every trinket except to the one that her mother
gave here. It was a beautiful crving of a Suaris pulling back a
bow.
Karoon dashed into the herd, in the middle. She swam as
best as she could, but not as fast as the Kuezeq. Finally,
Karoon pulled herself onto the river bank as it was visibley
expanding. The cracking ice shelf sounds suddenly changed to
rushing tsunamis of water. Karoon began to run as fast as
possible, but the Kuezeq were much, much faster. With the rope
she had, Karoon lassoed a Kuezeq on the antlers and jumped on
its back. Holding onto the antler, she went as fast as the
wind.
[center]~~Chapter 3~~[/center]
Night was slowly beginning to fall at 5:00 pm. The Kuezeq
herd was beginning to slow down, as the waves had crashed and
swamped the tundra already. Karoon knew that this early
migration will lead to a massive decline in Kuezeq population,
as the grass was already gone here. This meant she must find
another kind of prey. The Kuezeq that Karoon was riding upon
was beginning to grow tired, but Karoon decided that she will
domesticate this Kuezeq. Tying the rope around its neck, she
tied it around a tree as well, to hold the deer creature. "I
will call you---Etsaura," Karoon said as she patted the Kuezeq
on the back. Etsaura began to munch on the small bits of grass
just beginning to grow.
Suddenly, Karoon noticed the top of the tree had
juicy-looking red fruits. They looked so delicious that she
began to climb the tree to gather them for dinner. She plucked
a ripe one, for it was a blood red figure with darker spots.
After harvesting all of the plants, Karoon climbed back down the
tree and began to cut up the fruits. Preserving the seeds,
slices of fruit were put into bags.
"Etsaura, do you want some?" Karoon asked as she placed
the fruit slices on one of her stone plates and pushed over to
the Kuezeq. Etsaura looked at the young Sauris confusedly.
Never had a Kuezeq been cared for by their biggest predator.
Nevertheless, she reluctantly ate it. Meanwhile, Karoon cut
some morsels of the Kuezeq she had killed earlier and began to
eat that with some fruit. It was a feast of delicious treats.
The next morning, Karoon tied her things to Etsaura's
back and walked with her toward a large tower of trees. This
was the biggest forest Karoon had ever seen, for it had trees as
tall as the ice shelf. Even so, it seemed the giant forest
stretched for many miles. It would be a great hiding place.
Karoon noticd that the weather had become slightly more humid.
She also noticed that the temperatures were becoming warmer as
she continued traveling the many miles south. Maybe this was
why her tribe had left and never came back. It was a land of
beauty and plenty- the perfect home.

Poor Karoon! not to be a critic or anything, but the planet
having a 3 month night? sounds a bit extreme. you don't need to
change it or anything. But i like how you implemented how the
Sauris, like every other race in this game, came from eggs,
because that was my interpretation too!

These Sauris lived at the top of the world, where the planet was
tilted on an axis. Because of this axis, the poles will get
very limited or continuous sunlight because it is tilted in one
direction toward its sun. For instance, take a lightbilb and a
ball. Hold the ball at an angle in move it around the
lightbulb. As you can see, the top of the ball was faced at the
lightbulb, and when you rotate it, the light does not leave. On
the bottom, it is completely dark. There is no light hitting
it. Then, as you move the ball around, the top is faced away
and the bottom is faced towards the lightbulb. This gives the
extreme seasons. This does not happen anywhere but the poles.

Thanks! Even though Etsaura is a "deer-like" creature, I
interpreted it as a horse towards the Reptilians. Chapter 4
will be worked on at least soon. I will try to keep you all
entertained. And sorry for the tiny chapters.
