Fakery, false spirituality and money-grubbing is a multi-million
dollar industry. But it's not new. Jesus warned us about these
issues in the first century and they just keep coming up again
and again. But I don't think we would be wise to limit this
warning to an issue that we see in some leaders. We should take
seriously the fact that humans seem to have a natural drift from
authentic spirituality to impersonated spirituality. From
genuine character and godliness to laboring at the appearance of
character and godliness. This is something that leaders will
probably be tempted with the most but any one of us can fall
into. God give us wisdom!
This is part 51 of the Mark Series, going verse by verse through
the Gospel of Mark. Today we are in chapter 12:38-44
Feel free to use my videos in your own gatherings as an aid to
studying Scripture. See the WHOLE Gospel of Mark playlist here.

Examining the idea that God created evil and looking at Isaiah
45:7 where God says, in the KJV, "I create evil".
We'll examine the passage in context, looking at the Hebrew word
for "evil" and then tackle some common problems/misconceptions
people have on the topic of the existence of evil.
Here's a wonderfully helpful video on the problem of evil from

"You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your o

In this segment of Psalm 50, God sends a clear message to
relatives (you know who you are) who continue to act wickedly
while sanctimoneously claiming to be Christians. You may fool
yourselves and your offspring, but God is not mocked. Repent
while there is still time.
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the
day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my
statutes or take my covenant on your lips? For you hate
discipline, and you cast my words behind you.
If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep
company with adulterers. “You give your mouth free rein for
evil, and your tongue frames deceit.
You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own
mother's son. These things you have done, and I have been
silent; you thought that I was one like yourself.
But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you. “Mark this,
then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be
none to deliver!
The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of
God!” -- Psalm 50:14-23 ESV

Agelbert NOTE: This is an amazing and uplifting true story. As a
former pilot myself, the logical and methodical way this man
preceived his surroundings is quite familar to me. I am firmly
convinced he is telling the truth about this life changing
experience. The details are precise. The countryside in Heaven
is FAR more REAL than this pale imitation of reality we now
inhabit. I've never been to Heaven, but a near death experience
took me to what I believe are the outskirts before I was pulled
back. However, I did notice the fact that there was a blue sky
with no sun, as Jim Woodford relates from his experience. I was
floating over a road with grass along the sides. Then my
direction of travel reversed and it all disapeared and I was
again laying on a gurney in a hospital (I was severely injured
from crashing my 1989 Ford Probe GT Turbo). That said, my
experience was nothing compared to this man's. Don't miss this
video, your salvation and/or that of someone you love may depend
on the knowledge you acquire from it.

When Jim Woodford, he spent 11 hours in Heaven. When he came
back, he was changed forever.
A successful airline pilot and businessman, Jim had it all—a
loving family, substantial wealth, and all of the good things
that come with it. But none of this was enough to satisfy the
emptiness he felt in his heart. He always hungered for something
more. And then he died.
Jim was never a religious man. When it came to matters of God
and faith, he was ambivalent. But as he lay in the hospital bed,
clinically dead for more than 11 hours, his consciousness was
transported to the wonders of Heaven and the horrors of hell.
When he returned to this world, he brought back the missing
peace his soul had been longing for.

The great drama of Martin Luther’s life comes alive in this

Martin Luther triggered a seismic upheaval that rocked the
western world in the 1500s—with an impact that continues to
reverberate to this day. The great drama of Martin Luther’s life
comes alive in this vivid portrayal of the penniless monk’s
quest for truth—a quest that would re-shape the church, and the
world. Perhaps the most faithful movie about Luther’s life ever
made, the film does not shy away from the deep theological
questions—and answers—that mark Luther as one of the most
influential people of the last thousand years.
Director: David Batty
Starring: Padraic Delaney, Gerharde Bode, Jr., Bruno
Grzeszykowski
Agelbert NOTE: These quotes from the book Vicars of Christ - The
Dark side of The Papacy by Peter De Rosa, help explain some
details not mentioned in the film about the Inquisition during
Martin Luther's time:
It is noteworthy that one of the few prelates big enough to
stand up to Innocent III was Stephen Langton, an Englishman
versed in the common law. In splendid defiance of papal
absolutism, he wrote:
‘Natural law is binding on princes and bishops alike; there is
no escape from it. It is beyond the reach of the Pope himself.’
Such was the intimidation by the Inquisition that no theologian,
except ‘heretics’ like Marsilio of Padua and Martin Luther,
raised his voice against it. Had anyone spoken out he would have
been immediately silenced. Had he written against it, he would
have been censored in advance. Tyranny continued unopposed. Not
a single bishop in all those centuries raised his voice in
protest at the way his flock was being ravaged, further proof
that bishops in those days were puppets of the Holy See.
Yet Protestants like Balthasar Hubmaier had clearer heads and
braver hearts. Hubmaier wrote a whole tract against the burning
of heretics in 1524. In a haunting series of propositions, he
wrote:
The inquisitors are the greatest heretics of all, since, against
the doctrine and example of Christ, they condemn heretics to the
fire. ... ...
The curious thing is that Luther had no intention of leaving the
church. Until it dawned on him that a divided Christendom was
better than one over which the pope rules in denial of the
Gospel. Better by far to be ruled by the open Bible than by a
corrupt and apparently irreformable papacy.
Western Christians still debate the wisdom of Luther’s
judgement. His analysis did not differ from Dante’s. What was
wrong with the church was the papacy’s libido dominandi, its
insatiable lust for power.
Leo X was obtuse enough to excommunicate Luther even for saying
‘Burning heretics is against the will of the Holy Spirit’. The
next few popes were no more perceptive.

John Newton was a troubled young man with a violent temper and a
penchant for vulgarity that literally made his fellow sailors
blush. Whipped for desertion and sold into slavery, it seemed
his life would end early in a West African grave...until he was
rescued by a ship captain sent by his father.
Following a powerful conversion experience during a storm at
sea, Newton would eventually become a pastor in the Church of
England and the writer of several of the church's most beloved
hymns, including "Amazing Grace."
But before that, Newton, the former slave, was appointed captain
of a slave ship himself. In an age when human bondage was
considered the norm, it would take time for Newton's conscience
to be thoroughly transformed. But Newton came to hate the slave
trade, becoming a spiritual leader in the fight to end slavery.
Newton's Grace is the true story of a real "Prodigal Son," the
story of miraculous forgiveness and change that lies behind the
powerful words of one of the world's most beloved hymns.

[move]Amazing grace, How sweet the sound That saved a wretch
like me. I once was lost, but now I am found, Was blind, but now
I see. ✨ 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And
grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear The
hour I first believed. ✨ Through many dangers, toils and
snares I have already come, 'Tis grace has brought me safe thus
far And grace will lead me home. ✨ The Lord has promised
good to me His word my hope secures; He will my shield and
portion be, As long as life endures. ✨ Yea, when this
flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease I shall
possess within the veil, A life of joy and peace. ✨ When

John Wycliffe is a dramatic biography of the life of the 14th
century scholar and cleric who translated the Bible into English
for the first time.
Wycliffe found himself in the middle of religious, political and
social conflicts. An Oxford scholar, one of Europe's most
renowned philosophers, John Wycliffe was a defender of English
nationalism against the power of the pope and a champion of the
poor against the injustices of the rich.
John Wycliffe taught that God's forgiveness cannot be bought
with indulgences.
John Wycliffe preached that the only true authority is the Word
of God, and the Word could only be understood by all if the
people could read it in their native tongue. "John Wycliffe"
captures the trials and heroic struggles of this significant man
of faith - the "Morning Star" of the Reformation.

If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow
we die.” ...
By: AGelbert Date: February 4, 2022, 10:51 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I CORINTHIANS 15:32-58
What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at
Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for
tomorrow we die.” Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good
morals.” Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do
not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this
to your shame.
But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind
of body do they come?” You foolish person! What you sow does not
come to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body
that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some
other grain.
But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of
seed its own body. For not all flesh is the same, but there is
one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and
another for fish.
There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of
the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of
another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the
moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star
in glory.
So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is
perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in
dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is
raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a
spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a
spiritual body.
Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”;
the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. But it is not the
spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual.
The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man
is from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who
are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those
who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of
dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the
kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the
imperishable.
Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead
will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this
perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal
body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the
imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall
come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your
victory? O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But
thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord
Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your
labor is not in vain.
