James 5:1-3
KJV 1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries
that shall come upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your
garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and
the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat
your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for
the last days.
WEB 1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that
are coming on you. 2 Your riches are corrupted and your garments
are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver are corroded, and
their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will
eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the
last days.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
1 We are not to just feel sorry for the poor but do what we can
to help them, this for some is prayer but for those who can help
they need to help and let those who cant help prayer so they can
help that way. James is talking about the rich crying over those
in need rather then helps them with their need.
2 Riches will go away, what are they storing up, isn’t it more
important to help people if we can. Laying up treasures in
heaven is far better.
3 When the times of the Lord comes it wont matter how much money
a person has, when death comes it wont matter how much a person
has because they wont take that with them but the riches we give
away will be laid up heaven.
