Ruth 4:9-10 King James Version (KJV)
9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are
witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's,
and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.
10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I
purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon
his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from
among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are
       witnesses this day.
Ruth 4:9-10 New Life Version (NLV)
9 Then Boaz said to the leaders and all the people, “You have
seen today that I have bought from Naomi all that belonged to
Elimelech, to Chilion and to Mahlon. 10 And I have taken Ruth,
the Moabite woman who was Mahlon’s wife, to be my wife. I will
keep alive the name of the dead man on his land. His name will
not be forgotten among his brothers or from the gate of his
birth-place. You have heard this today.”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
9 So now he had a right to marry Ruth who is what he wanted to
do but he had to do it the right way he had to become the
kinsmen redeemer, Christ did this for us as we are the church.
10 Although this was done Ruth was never given up as his wife.
Its tricky how it seen the child they would have would be seen
as the heir of the Mahlon which the land would go to him and he
would carry the name of Mahlon as he lived on the land.
