1 Kings 7:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
7 But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he
       finished all his house.
2 He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; the length
thereof was an hundred cubits, and the breadth thereof fifty
cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits, upon four rows of
cedar pillars, with cedar beams upon the pillars.
1 Kings 7:1-2 New Life Version (NLV)
       Solomon’s House
7 Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he
finished all of it. 2 He built the house of the trees of
Lebanon. It was as long as fifty long steps, as wide as
twenty-five long steps, and eight times taller than a man. It
was built on four rows of cedar pillars, and large pieces of
cedar wood lying on top of the pillars.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
1 Solomon most likely hired people to build his house, Solomon
was commanded to build the temple and now decides to build
himself a knew house this would cause the people to have to pay
higher taxes, Solomon also by having his home build makes
himself higher than everyone else when the only one who should
have been higher was the Lord even though Solomon was king, the
       best leaders serve.
2 The trees of Lebanon had become used for building they were
used in the temple. Solomon decided to build his house big,
David saw how big his house was and decided that the Lord’s
house should be better Solomon builds his house better perhaps
because of what the Lord’s is, we do know Solomon later fell
from the Lord, this could have been the starting place. Solomon
wanting such a big house showed greed and showed the world his
power when his power came from the Lord and not from himself.
