1 Kings 6:14-17

1 Kings 6:14-17 King James Version (KJV)
14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 And he built the walls of the house within with boards of
cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the
ceiling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and
covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.
16 And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both
the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them
for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy
place.
17 And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty
cubits long.

14 So Solomon built the house and finished it. 15 He built the
walls of the house on the inside with pieces of cedar wood. He
put wood over the inside walls from the floor of the house to
the roof. And he put pieces of cypress wood over the floor of
the house. 16 An inside room called the most holy place was
built in the back part of the house with pieces of cedar wood,
from the floor to the roof and as wide as ten long steps. 17 The
rest of the house, the center room in front of the most holy
place, was as long as twenty long steps.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
14 Solomon had the house built and finished, Solomon most likely
just made sure that the building was done as we see in earlier
scripture. Now there is a temple to go to.
15 It was not as common to have as many walls inside as the
temple would have. These inside walls were made from cedar, it
was not common to have cedar on the inside of a building due to
the expense, and it shows nothing was left back from the
building of this house for the Lord.
16 The Holies of Holies, the most sacred place, God end up
ripping the curtain after Christ died. This was room only one
priest went into once a year. The steps were made but the other
items in the holies of holies were already made during the time
of Moses they would just be placed in the Holy o holies.
17 The steps stood for going up the God who was in heaven, God
would not take stairs to come down to the earth but would come
down in Spirit and be born of a virgin and die on a cross for
us.

An interesting topic. I ask was it in fact the physical veil in
the physical Temple that was rent? We might easily suppose so
by reading:
Matthew 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in
twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and
the rocks rent;
Mark 15:38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the
top to the bottom.
There is a major difficulty with this interpretation however
since no histories of the time mention it. Josephus mentioned
many odd things that occurred in this era, but there is no
mention of veil being rent. I say the veil that separated God
from man was rent. This veil was rent in Heaven first:
Hebrews 9:23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of
things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the
heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with
hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven
itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
And then rent on the earth. Thus it was rent from top to
bottom. Hebrews mentions this "veil" later:
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after
that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those
days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and
in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering
for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the
holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and
our bodies washed with pure water.

. . . a new and living way, He consecrated. Real presence.
(United to Him in His humanity and in His divinity.)
Eucharist?
But, yes, understand the heavenly things and the earthly. The
veil? Both were torn. In heaven, on earth.

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out

I missed that allusion to the Eucharist. Yes, I think it is an
allusion. Thanks for pointing that out.
By a covenant, two become one. We should not think of the Body
of Christ as referring to Jesus alone or personally. He is the
Head of the Body -- another reference to that which is "above."
1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it
not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we
break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all
partakers of that one bread.
If the bread and wine are mere symbols, wouldn't this reduce the
covenant also to a mere symbol? The next chapter says these
are not mere symbols.
11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this
cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and
blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that
bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and
drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many
sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
I find it most interesting what John wrote about Judas; and I
would say Judas "ate" damnation to himself:
John 13:26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop,
when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave
it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus
unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
Another way of looking at how all members in the Body of Christ
share all in common and often must "sacrifice" things themselves
is shown in Revelation, I think. I see this passage as the
"reaping" of the saints.
Revelation 13:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,
Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from
henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their
labours; and their works do follow them.
14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud
one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden
crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud
voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and
reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of
the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the
earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven,
he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power
over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp
sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the
clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully
ripe.
I see this as another reference to the Eucharist. I see the
saints as following in the steps of Jesus. They contribute all
they have the way Jesus did for the sake of others. Then in
the next chapter:
15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the
tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
Yes, Jesus did this; but I believe each saint also has a role in
it. Jesus opened a way for us; and each of us can also help
open doors for others.
1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of
this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein:
for the time is at hand.
