Since many of you do not belong to
the Catholic Church and others are non-believers, from the
bottom of my heart I give this silent blessing to each and every
one of you, respecting the conscience of each one of you but
knowing that each one of you is a child of God.

I had mentioned to someone once that we were all children of
God. He went into long drawn out tirade telling me why only
certain people were God's children. I just sighed. Some
people are too caught up in defending their faith to see truth
in the words of others. Yes, true words and good words.

Is everyone a child of God? In one way, everyone has to be
since God is Creator; but we can act like the Devil. Maybe we
can even let the Devil adopt us so we become children of the
serpent. Then I guess we need to be taken back into the family.

Some people like to tell you why they're God's children and
others aren't. I think maybe they lack faith in both God and
themselves and are talking more to convince themselves all is
well than to convince anyone else. That attitude is similar
to the hypocrite who prayed, "I thank Thee, God, that I am not
like other men. . . ." He's still missed the mark. If he
could realize and accept that everyone is a child of God, he'd
feel a lot better about himself, I think, and his relationship
with God. It would be a relief to him.

It is one thing to be a child of God, it is another thing to be
a son in whom God is well pleased. Many children hate their
parents or dont care about them at all. Those children are not
children in whom the parents are well pleased. Thats how I see
it. But God would have all His children repent and return to
the family if they but would.

True.
I love the Pope. I think he has much more faith in people than
I do.

This is me, a sinner on whom the Lord
has turned his gaze. And this is what I said when they asked me
if I would accept my election as pontiff. I am a sinner, but I
trust in the infinite mercy and patience of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and I accept in a spirit of penance.

True.
I love the Pope. I think he has much more faith in people than
I do.
The last poll I saw had 61% of non-Catholics in America
had a favorable view of him, while 74% of Catholics did; so you
aren't alone. That poll

was right
before his visit.
In one way, telling people everyone is a child of God seems like
the Gospel to me -- or related. Can people admit it and start
acting like it, or are they afraid to admit it, being
overwhelmed by the evils of the world? It's a dog eat dog
world; and trying to be good can be seen as threatening to
self-survival.
