Acts 6:12-15

Acts 6:12-15 King James Version (KJV)
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the
scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to
the council,
13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not
to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall
destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses
delivered us.
15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him,
saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
Acts 6:12-15
NHEB 12 They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes,
and came against him and seized him, and brought him in to the
council, 13 and set up false witnesses who said, "This man never
stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the
Law. 14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth
will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses
delivered to us." 15 All who sat in the council, fastening their
eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
12 They were used by the Lord to stir up the people. They became
angry because of the possible conviction they felt, when we
witness to people we may have the same reaction. They may be mad
because of how the message was received by the people.
13 If we had to stand trial for our faith would be found guilty
or would most likely not even been sent to court because of how
we live not being that different than the world. The broke one
of the Ten Commandments because of their own will, God will
never lead us to break was word. People may lie about us to
bring us down. We just keep strong serving the Lord and pray for
them.
14 Jesus fulfilled the customs of Moses; they were still living
by the law at that time it was done to show their faith in
Jesus. They kept their Jewish roots. Jesus did away with the
need for the temple.
15 They saw Stephen as an angel that is because the Lord was
with Him, we have the Lord with us and others should be able to
see it.

11,12 When Stephen's enemies found that they could not win a
battle of words, they resorted to a smear campaign, and
contrived to have Stephen accused of blasphemy.
13 Nothing was more precious to the Jews than their Temple and
their Law, which represented God’s presence and God’s
revelation.
14 Stephen had evidently been proclaiming Jesus as the
replacement of the Temple and the fulfilment of the Law. (John
2:19-22) With Jesus’ death and resurrection, the old sacrificial
system was already obsolete.
15 God’s own approval of all that Stephen had been saying and
doing was literally ‘written all over his face’. Alone in the
midst of enemies, his face shone with courage and serenity – as
if, like Moses, he was touched with the glory of God. And we too
can reflect the glory of the Lord (II Corinthians 3:18)
