Just how was it that the young David had a heart after God. So
much so that the Lord just about said that is a man who beats in
time with my heart I can use such a man to do.............

[/quote]God and David knew each other before David was born.
David was "foreknown" by God.
People read these passages and think it means God does these
things for everyone. They don't say that however. It's a
matter of interpretation.
Psalm 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God
from my mother's belly.
Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered
me in my mother's womb.
Paul makes a similar claim:
Galatians 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my
mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
If we read those passages to apply to everyone, why would David
also write:
Psalm 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go
astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
And why was Jacob loved and Esau hated, even before they were
born? Was that unfair of God? I say no because Jacob knew God
before he was born and Esau didn't. Paul also says it's wasn't
unfair.
Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have
I hated.
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God?
God forbid.
People sometimes try to dodge the question by saying God's
foreknowledge means He knows the future, so He loved Jacob for
his good deeds and hated Esau for his wicked deeds; but I ask
does that argument stand up under scrutiny? Jacob was a
deceiver and a conniver who took advantage of Esau's weakness to
get his birthright. Why did Esau do that was so bad? Forgive
Jacob? Ha!
