Catholic theologians! Here is a line form the Catechism that
makes sense to me where some of their theologians don't.
1280 Baptism imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual sign,
the character, which consecrates the baptized person for
Christian worship. Because of the character Baptism cannot be
repeated (cf. DS 1609 and DS 1624).
How baptisms are performed by tradition is also instructive.
One of the most important things is that water should be on the
head. Whether by sprinkling or immersion is open for whatever
you prefer; but water must go on the head.
This is how most spiritual imprints are received. They slip
over the body like a garment. When a priest is consecrated, the
Bishop puts his hands on his head. That too is a spiritual
imprint. When a Bishop is consecrated, it's more complicated
since it requires more than one Bishop to do it; but all the
Bishops present lay their hands on the head of the person being
consecrated.
Such imprints can be received without human hands; but the usual
method is by a human doing it. The imprint of baptism and other
imprints that may be given are like shapes or clothes -- and
these influence the body, soul, mind and heart of the person who
received the imprints -- they serve to bring the person into the
correct "image".
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate
to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brethren.
This "correct" image and likeness was brought into the physical
world when the Holy Spirit "overshadowed" Mary. A shadow is an
outline, a pattern, a template. Think of a coloring book
where you see lines and fill them in. If you color outside the
lines, your picture is not in the "right image." Or think of
an empty jug. When you pour water in, the water takes on the
form of the jug.
Many souls have minor problems when incarnating. They all did
before Jesus, I believe. Either the outline isn't right -- and
the parents can affect that with impure ideas during the act of
intercourse -- or the soul doesn't fill the "outline"
correctly.
At the Transfiguration, we see another overshadowing. Jesus
takes on another type of sonship and that is announced. The
mantle or outline that had been Jesus' passed to Peter; and the
mantle of Moses passed to James while the mantle of Elijah went
to John.
The correct form of the spiritual body is formed by these
imprints; and when the new body is completed, then other things
become possible.
Mark 2:21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old
garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from
the old, and the rent is made worse.
22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new
wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the
bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new
bottles.
Those imprints also correct defects in the chakras -- the single
eye, the tongue or throat, and the heart. "How" these things
are corrected is not known to man. They are accomplished by
the intelligence or awareness within the mantle.
Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when
thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but
when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil,
full of deadly poison.
Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a
new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of
their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
Ask a priest how he consecrates the Host. He won't know how he
does it. But there is intelligence at work -- the intelligence
of the Spirit -- that can make it so. And it becomes true in
space and time -- within the matter too although no change is
perceptible to the physical eye. Every atom that is changed in
the Host contains the intelligence of the Mind of Christ.
That brings us back to being double minded. If someone is in a
state of sin and knows it, refuses to repent and thus clings to
his sin, he is being double-minded by partaking of the
Eucharist. It's dangerous. The intelligence of the Mind of
Christ can transform or change things if we are willing to have
them changed; but it's like a collision within us if we try to
do both at the same time.

Well . . . I did imagine it would be great to
have a border collie, and two showed up on my property within
the same week. One male, one female, and they didn't know each
other. Strange.
I imagined it would be fun to have a baby squirrel, and later
that same day I heard a noise outside, and there was a baby
squirrel, frozen between my dog and . . . a cat! Nobody moved,
and I simply walked over and picked the little one up. Why
neither dog nor cat attacked I have never understood.
Attributed these things to God, as well.
In Genesis, we read that "angels" of the LORD came to
Jacob. Then we read he sent "messengers" to see what was going
on with Esau. In Hebrew, it's the same word. You can read
that to mean he sent human messengers or that he sent the
angels.
If someone is connected with Heaven, then you can it was of God.
If he's not connected to Heaven, he can still be sending
"things" out to try to figure out things, and it is not of God.

I would assume it was not from God if the dogs that showed up
belonged to people who loved them and who were missing them. It
would be from God if nobody was being injured but the dogs were
being helped. The Spirit can see all things and then take
appropriate action. The less-than-godly would take into
account only that you wanted a border collie and might try to
get you one even if it wasn't the best thing. The demonic would
want to please you by producing a border collie in a way that
caused harm to other people or other creatures -- or even in a
way that could harm you.

The border collies arrived, both covered with
burs and ticks as though they'd traveled a distance. I asked
around for months and no one claimed them. Everyone in my area
knew I had them. They also ran free on my property for months
and never chose to leave on their own. Border collies are
shepherd breeds, known to be the most intelligent breed. They
are very faithful and would not harm anyone.
Draw your own conclusions. Did you think that I never gave
consideration to the possibility they belonged to someone?
My whole life, God placed animals in my path that needed help--
because I'd prayed and told Him that I wanted to help animals.
Recently, not so much. God knows my situation and knows I can
no longer handle as many animals as I once did.
This farm itself was direct answer to prayer, almost
immediately, and back then it provided the best home for my
increasing number of animals, giving me space far enough from
neighbors to not disturb them. All but one of my horses came to
me at no cost thru circumstance, as well. My animals have
always been one of the greatest blessings in my life, even as a
child, and I thank God for every one that has graced my life.
The squirrel was amazing, and one little girl who visited and
played with him for hours became a veterinarian when she grew
up, as I had suggested to her, seeing her innate love of
animals.
The demonic never please me.
My trust is in God.

I can't imagine a border collie running away from home unless
things were really gruesome. My guess is people abandoned
them. So they can't be seen as injured parties. If there
were injured parties, it would have been the dogs and you
wanting them didn't cause that.
But I wonder if maybe an angel put that idea into your head. I
don't know that, can't know that, but it makes me wonder.
Perhaps the dogs were already lost -- and they were looking for
help -- and an angel came and asked you if you'd like a border
collie. When you said yes, the angel steered them your way.

^ They're great dogs. We call the male
Jack, but when he first came he was 'Jack the Ripper' because he
tore up lots of good stuff. Both were probably about a year
old. The female I named Trixie, after Dean Koontz's Trixie.
They're best friends now, of course. The funniest thing I saw
them do was they once ran out in the bean field and they upset
all the grasshoppers, so here were these two crazy dogs jumping
up and down, in and out of the beans, straight into the air,
chasing the hoppers, and they looked so entirely ridiculous, but
they were the picture of joy. (Don't think the farmer would
have been amused, though. 8) )
I wonder who put that idea in their fuzzy heads. ;)
I have read stories of animals doing strange things that rescued
people, like a woman being attacked by a potential rapist, until
this whole flock of crows attacked the guy. Someone definitely
intervened there.
Did I tell you about the time I was driving thru a deep-wooded
park and someone shoved their dog out of the car? He started
jumping on the windows, trying to get back in, but they drove
off and left him. He stood there, so forlorn, so I pulled up,
opened my door and that was when Charlie entered my life. He
was a big black shaggy dog, who bounced instead of walked. We
always said he was full of helium. Had him about ten years
before he died.
Sorry. I'm flooding you with animal stories. Mike's right.
I'm a bit obsessed. :P
