       Acts 5:17-21

Acts 5:17-21 King James Version (KJV)
17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with
him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with
       indignation,
18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the
       common prison.
19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors,
and brought them forth, and said,
20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words
       of this life.
21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early
in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they
that were with him, and called the council together, and all the
senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have
       them brought.
       Acts 5:17-21
NHEB 17 But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with
him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled
with jealousy, 18 and laid hands on the apostles, and put them
in public custody. 19 But an angel of the Lord opened the prison
doors by night, and brought them out, and said, 20 "Go stand and
speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life."
21 When they heard this, they entered into the temple about
daybreak, and taught. But the high priest came, and those who
were with him, and called the council together, and all the
senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have
       them brought.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
17 They realized that Jesus’ death did not cause this to stop
but only caused it to grow more, the Pharisees were the biggest
problem earlier. The Sadducees would now try to cause a problem
themselves. Are we to see something new coming along and instead
of seeing if it is of God and His will we are against it without
       learning about it?
18 They put them into prison which they had the authority to do,
they had authority to even stone them but not to crucify, and
they had to go to the Romans for that.
19 The angel brought them out it was not God’s will for them to
stay in prison. When we come to Him we come out of our prison of
sin. This does not mean God will prevent us from trouble in His
name because the disciples would die for spreading His name but
that would be later, no matter what the world wants we won’t be
       stopped from doing His will.
20 This was risking they just got put into prison for this but
God brought them out of prison to do this. When gives us further
time it should be used to do what He wants of us and not what we
       want.
21 They did what they were told it did have reaction by those
who would not believe. Sometimes serving the Lord may cause bad
reactions from other people and it may also more importantly be
       heard and received by others.

I absolutely agree Clark, but so many think that being a
follower of Jesus means an easy life and get discouraged and
can't cope when the going gets a bit tough.

You could be speaking of Peter, Poppy. We never know how we
will respond until hard times hit us. Peter proclaimed he would
go with Jesus to prison or even to death, but when push came to
shove, his courage failed him. I love to note in the verses
below that Jesus prayed for Peter, that his faith fail not. It
was a wonderful thing for me to realize I could ask Jesus to
pray for me. Think of it!
The disciples were discouraged after the crucifixion, and
Christians often get discouraged--understandably--to this day.
It is best they be able to admit it, so their brothers and
sisters may strengthen them. One day, the tables might turn and
the encouraged may become the encourager. This is how we help
one another in times of trial. The best person to strengthen
those discouraged, sick, or fearful are those who have undergone
similar trial and come out the other side, faith intact.
What I mean to say is that if a Christian becomes so discouraged
that his faith fails, perhaps the fault rests in part with his
brothers and sisters who may have failed to support, encourage,
and truly pray for him (as Jesus did for Peter), that his faith
fail not. "In this world you will have trouble." Being a
Christian doesn't mean we never get discouraged, never
experience sadness or fear; what it means is we have a support
system available to us to see us through. We must help one
       another cope.
"Strengthen thy brethren." Jesus meant that. I AM my brother's
       keeper.
It is good to know, as well, we have an entire host of heavenly
witnesses to intercede and pray for us, that our faith fail us
       not.

       > 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and
when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
       >

both into prison, and to death.

this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest

I think it's wonderful that he already prayed for all of us
before we knew him as set out in John 17:20-26.

       LOL ;D ;D ;D
My roosters have all been very classic male--struttin' around,
challenging everything, puffed up, chest thrust forward-- but so
protective of their females, they redeem themselves a bit.

Yes! The prayer that we all be united. :)
My prayer is that if push came to shove, Christians would show
themselves much stronger and united than they currently appear
to be. Unity, hopefully, is a matter of love and heart, not
theological details, and we would band together in force if need
be, that the world might believe, as Jesus said, that He was
       sent by the Father.

I really believe that all true followers of Jesus are already
united by the Holy Spirit. We all have the same Spirit within
us; we all have that same DNA so that is united. Even though we
differ in opinions due mostly to the teaching we have received
it is the Holy Spirit's presence which unites us. And as we are
already united in spirit we will one day be united in mind. But
it is really the spirit that counts.
