Kevin's Journey to Recovery
By: Piper Date: May 10, 2015, 9:14 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Was a grueling 48-hour day to the doctor in
Iowa and back. Doctor Rosman was so certain the Lymes test will
come back positive that Kevin is already on intensive treatment
with very high dose antibiotics for advanced Lyme's. He will
also need to eat very carefully, do regular detoxing to flush
out dead bacteria to prevent a Herx reaction (Herxheimer
reaction is a reaction to endotoxin-like products released by
the death of harmful microorganisms within the body during
antibiotic treatment), and he must stay on high quality
probiotics. She also gave him an antihistamine to help with the
rash and itching that will likely help him sleep, as well. The
amoxicillin must be taken at regular 8 hour intervals round the
clock, and I'll have to monitor him very closely. His detoxing
consists of a drink I must mix up regularly and full-body soaks,
if I can get him into a bathtub; foot soaks if not. Please pray
his body handles the treatment well. This may be a long haul
with months of antibiotics and we may need to change meds
depending on how things go.
The trip was very hard on Kevin (He was absolutely staggering by
the time we were home.), and much rest is in order for him, so I
might be a bit scarce for awhile, but will let you know how
things go. We have another appt. in one month, but will meet
the doctor at a clinic 4 hours away, instead of her main clinic
which turned out to be 8 (!) hours away.
Saw very cool wind turbines along the route, had dinner out
ending my week-long fast, and napped at a lovely rest area on
the way back. Omaha stretch and DesMoines stretch were the
worst for traffic on the way there, otherwise wide open highways
with beautiful spring-green trees and many rolling hills. We
came back middle of night, so traffic at least was very low, but
we were both extremely tired and fighting sleep. (Played lots
of praise music to stay awake. :) ) Animals at home survived.
I had started chores the night before we left at 2 AM to get
them set up so we could leave by 8 AM, after only 4 hours sleep.
Had to do chores again immediately when we finally got home
after hitting the pharmacy and shopping for all the detox
ingredients. Long, long time with no sleep.
Going back to bed! Will stay in touch . . . God bless all of
you!

Kevin is in deep muscle pain as of this morning and experiencing
flu-like symptoms, and headache. Feels awful, much worse, but
this is good indication we are on the right track, and that
Herxheimer reaction is beginning to occur as bacterial death
begins and floods his system! He's been ordered by Yours Truly
to relax in recliner in front room and think happy recovery
thoughts. Has had 3 doses of the amoxi thus far, and 2
Clariton. Need to keep on with the detox program to help rid
his body of dead bacteria.
(Mis-) Diagnosed with MS almost 2 and a half years ago; sick
much longer than that; finally we have some hope. Dr. Mary
Rosman spent 3 hours (!) with us, and definitely went outside
the box with treatment and care suggestions. Small hometown
clinic (Sumner, Iowa), small staff, but lady with a big heart.
More news, relating to the answer to prayer for new treatment:
Study has shown that the allergy drug 'Clariton' starves lyme
bacteria of the manganese they need to survive! So, taking
daily 24-hour Clarition will also help attack the lyme bacteria
and Dr. Rosman approved.
Feels wonderful to be doing something pro-active, even if it
must needs be get worse before it gets better!
God, I am seeing (as also with our financial mess in the
beginning of this calamity) often allows us to sink quite low,
before He raises us back up and comes to our rescue with a flood
of power. We learn much along the way!
Thanks so much for all your support and prayer and patience and
kind words over the past couple years! I'd never of made it this
far without you . . .

May Kevin be truly on the way to recovery and may both his
strength and quality of life increase dramatically over the
coming days and weeks.
That you weren't rushed through is a good sign, I think.
I think a lot of times, doctors make mistakes because they're
so rushed to make profits for the companies they work for they
can't spend the time to know their patients.
The treatment sounds like something else to endure. I was
reading about it, and the article I read said some people
stopped doing it because it caused so many side effects. That
doesn't make sense to me, not if the treatment can get rid of
the problem. "Modern medicine" stresses making people "feel
good now" even if that isn't the best way to get rid of a
problem.

This is what it is like after what should be
a simple shower. This is "herxing", a result of antibiotic
treatment for advanced Lyme disease. This is our current hell.
No indications how long this might last.
If you even make it thru this one video, there are 7 more, but .
. . this one is more than enough.
Public awareness. Medical community awareness. This can and
should be PREVENTED. This is not acceptable. All these
beautiful people should not be made to suffer. Thousands of
them. Tell people to get tested! Someone you love could be
next.

I'm running behind watching videos. This was horrible. I'd
think some sort of sedation or a better way of managing the pain
would be possible. Or perhaps a weaker dose --- although weaker
doses might drag out how long the treatment lasted.
But really, much of this could be prevented if doctors checked
for Lyme disease earlier on before it reached such a stage. I
told you my sister was one of the lucky ones. Her doctor said
her case was in the early stage; and so far as I know, she
doesn't have problems now; but he said if left undiagnosed,
things can be very serious and ugly.
It's medical malpractice if you ask me; and it probably won't
stop until someone sues a doctor and wins. But that depends on
the state's malpractice laws. I'd think insurance companies
would be objecting though -- since it costs them a lot more
money. First they're spending money on treatment for a disease
the person doesn't have. A total waste of money. Then when the
person does get diagnosed properly, it's a lot more money than
it would have been if diagnosed properly earlier. The world
seems crazy to me at times.
If I had to go through that, I'd want sleeping pills or
something so I could just go to sleep or be numb while the
herxing was working.

Nancy, K hope you can forgive me. I've been so tied up in my
own thing I haven't been paying attention to my friends and what
they are going threw. Please forgive me for that. I have been
following your words about Kevin for a few days now. Is it Lyme
disease they found. I'm so sorry and upset with myself too. I
really hope he can get threw this and return to normal and be
fine. What's happened the last few days now? If I was around
there , I could help. I wish and pray for you now that the Love
of the Lord see you lack in nothing and your needs be taken care
of and a quick and good recovery for Kevin. Love you Piper.
