Let's see how we get on with no further subdivision of boards.
Please keep topic headings as brief as possible in the interests
of the forum's Recent Posts listing.

       Subject: Psalm 22.
Psa 22:1 To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A
Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why
are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?
Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud
voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" that is, "My God,
my God, why have you forsaken me?"
When our Lord Jesus cried out, "My God, My God, why have You
forsaken Me?", He was not if fact complaining, but was drawing
the onlookers attention to Psalm 22, in which the following
       verses appear,
Psa 22:16 For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the
       wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet;
Psa 22:18 They divide My garments among them, And for My
       clothing they cast lots.
In other words He was saying, "Read what David wrote some 1,000
years ago, and long before crucifixion was even thought of, it's
happening right now. You are seeing the fulfilment of Scripture
       prophesy".
Note: "For dogs have surrounded Me". The Jews always referred to
       Gentiles as, "dogs".
Mat 15:26 And he answered, "It is not right to take the
children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
The Cross was surrounded by Roman soldiers, Gentile dogs.
At that time, whenever a Rabbi wanted to draw attention to a
particular passage of Scripture, he always quoted the first few
words, as there were then, no Chapter and verse divisions.
       Bless you.
       Edwin.

The word "forsaken" was used, that word was not chosen by
mistake... no thoughts are wasted with God when the word
forsaken is used in the bible it usually refers to being
       forsaken!

nonny mouse. You ask, "can you authenticate it please."
I am not sure where I got this information from, I am nearly 83
years old, and my memory is nowhere near as good as it used to
       be.

       Bless you.

Surely in this day an age such a statement can be searched and
       found.

Danger Mouse. In your Reply #5 you said.
"I heard something similar myself; but like you I can't tell you
       who told me".
Perhaps it was the Holy Spirit who told you?
       Edwin.

[/quote]No, Edwin, I think I would remember that. I often can
remember too where someone told me something, but on this one I
draw a blank. When I used to work days, I would hear various
ministers on the radio. Perhaps it was one of them?
Whatever the case may be though, I think it's clear that Jesus
       was thinking about Psalm 22.
