Convictions

I was thinking just now. As this forum has CONVICTIONS in the
title, I was wondering what most members conviction were? ;D
With the group who have registered so far, we know that our
first conviction is that Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and
The Life. I "think" that is why we are all here...it may change
if others join us..but, until then...
Other than the basic foundation of our faith...I was wondering
what each members personal convictions are...or, if they are
maybe "just that"= Personal ? :o :)
I am asking myself this same question too.

On 2nd December Helen's OP didn't set any wheels in motion in my
storm tossed mind.
But today is a different matter in as much as I have woken up
thinking very deeply along the lines that..... what God requires
of us is 'WORSHIP'.
And for that to really be "in spirit and in truth" it has to
emanate from the childlike trust and faith without which we are
told that we cannot begin to experience the 'Kingdom of Heaven'.
So, once I have pieced it all together in my word processor, I
will present 'my convictions'.
Meantime, peace to those who seek it, and confusion to those who
post only to establish theological superiority.

The verbal inspiration of the Bible
The deity of Jesus Christ
The atonement by the sacrificial death and resurrection of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation by grace through faith and not by good works.
The baptism with the Holy Spirit
Christ is our healer
That the spiritual gifts continue in operation for the
edification of the church.
That the Plan that God started when He slayed The Lamb 'before
the foundation of the world', He will finish in wondrous glory!!
That will do for now..most other doctrines I hold lightly...and
many, I don't 'hold' at all!!
I may find that I have 'strong convictions' on more things...but
at this moment I can't remember which ;)

Thanks Pat...I presume you hold the same convictions....anything
to add that I have forgotten?
I find this so interesting...so no one has any real
convictions about anything that they say that they believe? :-\
Yet when there is a "hot and heavy" debate on something going
on...it 'seems' as if the people involved have
convictions...but, maybe not! Maybe most people just like to
"argue the point, just for arguments sake!! :D
Have we finally found the answer to your question a nonny mouse?
( why forums get 'hot' and argumentative.. = people just love to
argue )
But, joking aside, maybe it is a good thing that people seem to
have no convictions on anything...that way, they should 'be
open' to new points of view. :)

These are some more of my convictions.
I believe that God speaks to us individually and not just
through the bible.
I believe that we have God's Spirit within us but also that we
are empowered by the Holy Spirit for certain tasks and
ministries over and above the initial filling.
I believe that relationship with Jesus is the key and that
religion is just a set of rules and rituals and basically
meaningless.
I believe I am part of a holy priesthood and have the authority
to baptise and administer bread and wine to brothers and sisters
in Christ.
I believe that through the blood of Jesus I am righteous in
God's sight.
I believe in the power of prayer and the need for praise and
worship.
I believe that it is vital to our spiritual health that we learn
to forgive.
I believe that we need to be thoughtful of others, kind and
generous and tolerant.
I may add more.

I said once that the only thing I was completely sure about was
that I existed. I said I might be hallucinating, and maybe
everything I thought was real out there wasn't; but even so, I
still had to exist, didn't I?
Then someone said, "I'm not sure even about that." She was
right. Now I'm not even sure I exist. Maybe I exist only in
the imagination of God; and maybe if He stopped imagining me
into existence, I'd just vanish.
Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as
certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his
offspring.

Here are some of my convictions:
o God is love.
o God is good and does good things.
o God is triune - three in one.
o Jesus is the only begotten Son of God the Father.
o That all people need to be saved and that can only happen by
grace through faith in Jesus.
o The gifts of the Spirit are available for use today for the
edification of the church and lost people.
o I believe God heals today and that God wants to heal all
people.
o That God wills for all to be saved and ultimately will achieve
that, making the Gospel good news for all people as the Angel
said.
