Its great, isn't it. There is a worship resource site called
songselect where you can download words and music for songs to
use in church meetings etc. This one is always at the top of
the list of songs.
I was in a concert with Stuart Townend and his band about 18
months ago - he said "lets stand and sing In Christ Alone" -
about a thousand people stood and sang it - everyone knew it. It
was very moving.
I do like Kristyn's version of it.
Perfect theology? What Scripture is it based on when
it says God's wrath was satisfied? What an idea, to think God
created us and then got wrathful with us. What would God have
to be angry about?
Could God be angry because we turned out defective? Is God like
human beings who manufacture and sell defective products and
then try to pretend it's not their fault?
Could God be angry because He gave us free will and we didn't
do what He wanted? If He's mad about that, it would be His
mistake for giving us free will.
Or could God be angry because we don't love Him? Did He create
us so He'd feel loved? If we don't play His game, does He get
angry and stop loving us because we aren't loving Him back?
I'd love to see the Bible verse that says God's wrath was
satisfied. When I hear such things, I neither believe or
disbelieve all at once. It didn't sound right to me, and I
cannot find such a statement in the Bible. I looked.

No there is no "perfect verse" that one can quote as in
"proving it".
To me, and obviously many others , is is show right through the
word in illustration. Not that you will probably agree...but
that's fine too. :)
To me , easy to see...the plague is sin, the antidote was the
sacrifice. God paints pictures for us.
Isaiah 53. In which thousands upon thousand throughout the ages
can see what and who it is speaking about.
"He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be
satisfied: by His knowledge shall my Righteous Servant justify
many; for He shall bear their iniquities."
Numbers 16 "Get you up from among this congregation, that I may
consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces. 46
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein
from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the
congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath
gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. 47 And Aaron took
as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation;
and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put
on incense, and made an atonement for the people. 48 And he
stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was
stayed.
Ex 12 " 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night,
and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man
and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute
judgment: I am the Lord.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses
where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you,
and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I
smite the land of Egypt."
2 Samuel 24 " So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen
for fifty shekels of silver.
25 And David built there an altar unto the Lord,✟ and
offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord was
intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel"
And lots more throughout the word. We can either see them
plainly showing types of the redemptive sacrifice or we don't.
Yes, there is; and we can discuss those passages if you
I think we should try to base our ideas on what the
Bible actually says. If Isaiah 53 is clear to someone, I'm
waiting for anyone who can to explain it all to me. Maybe we
can start with "despised of men". How does that refer to Jesus
when the New Testament says he was popular?
And I hope we know that the word "satisfied" there means to be
full the way we say someone's hunger has been satisfied by
eating. Are we saying God had a hunger for wrath that could not
be satisfied without making someone suffer? God does not have
the ability to forgive sins without killing something?
If that is the case, how did Jesus heal people and tell them
their sins were forgiven before his Crucifixion? I tell you
Jesus had had the ability to heal and tell people their sins
were forgiven before he was crucified; and other men also can do
this.
James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of
the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil
in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord
shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be
forgiven him.
Is there anyone here that believes this passage, that the elders
of the church can get sins of people forgiven? I doubt it.
Most people in this thread probably don't believe that.

kerry I am not sure it says the elders will get the sins
forgiven.
It does say that with no condition at all the elders will anoint
the person, pray over the person and if they have committed sin
they shall be forgiven. The last bit I take as Gods forgiveness
not the elders forgiveness.
I do find it interesting that James lists this as a foregone
conclusion of the ability of the church elders, and one does ask
the question if they cant pray over someone and get them healed
should they be elders in the first place since they don't have
the qualifications for the position?
Just my take on the James verses.
