What is Deism?

Here's the Wikipedia description.
Deism, (which derives from the Latin word deus meaning "God")
combines a rejection of religious knowledge as a source of
authority with the conclusion that reason and observation of the
natural world are sufficient to determine the existence of a
Creator of the universe.
Deism gained prominence among intellectuals during the Age of
Enlightenment – especially in Britain, France, Germany and the
United States – who, raised as Christians, believed in one God
but became disenchanted with organized religion and notions such
as the Trinity, Biblical inerrancy and the supernatural
interpretation of events such as miracles.
Included in those influenced by its ideas were leaders of the
American and French Revolutions.

It seems to me if we reject spiritual knowledge, knowledge of
spiritual things might be withheld from us. It seems folly to
me to believe that none of the saints and believers who came
before us have anything of value to pass down to us. Rather, I
believe they lived, live still, and would, as our mother,
brothers, and sisters, wish to help us in whatever ways they
can. They, like Jesus, would be "for us" and love would make
them very benevolent toward us. Like Jesus, they understand our
"lot" and our trials and tribulations. Being family, in Christ,
they love us in ways much more powerful than our own earthly
families ever could. They ARE us, in a sense, and we are them.
We walk where they have trod before us. I think we can trust
"the dead in Christ"-- who are not dead at all-- much more than
the people who surround us on this earth.
Knowledge can help us to understand, and fan the flames of love
that are growing in our hearts.
Certainly all of nature speaks to us, even surrounds us with
God, but I do believe man, collectively, has been "seeking" God
for ages. Things have been passed down, and we have the
potential to also pass down things of value to future
generations. They need our help, don't you think?
I am coming to see that there is a whole host of family in
Christ that can and will intercede for us, be it within the will
of God.
If we close our minds, if we slam doors, secure windows, and
shut off the lights, how then will anything come to us, help us
grow? How will we see if we close our eyes?
