Dont send any money to the man with the diamond ring!!! It will
make you poor and stunt your Christian life into believing that
-"you have your ticket to heaven" so no need to do anything more
than send in your money to the TV evangelist! !!! :-\

Quite a cynical song about diamond ringed TV evangelists conning
vulnerable people into parting with their cash in a bid to find
favour with God and so get their tickets to heaven. Very sad
but true.

With the great music and such a lovely voice, hopefully he sings
good Christian songs with a real message as well. I'm sure he
knew just what he was singing about. :)

This song was released by Dire Straits in 1991 and is Mark
Knopfler's sarcastic take on organizations that collect money
for starving children. I'm pretty sure Knopfler is not a
Christian, or at least wasn't when he wrote this song.

That's another song like Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and George
Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" (about Hare krishna) that I don't
like much at all. Its rejection of God in John Lennon's and
Leonard Cohen's words are most likely there for sound reason as
that's how they felt at the time they penned them.. and George
Harrison's Hare krishna chorus's where we declare Hare krishna
as Lord are so subtle thousands of Christians pray along with it
regardless
My wife's choir often sing "Hallelujah" which is loved by all
but me.
Jeff Buckley's rendition of that songs explores the words more
fully away from the beautiful chorus of hallelujah

Don`t have nearly the same feeling about Cohen`s song, but I
agree about the George Harrison tune. Lennon`s is about the only
one that generates hate in me.
