Hello!

Hi every one, i have great intrest in older fruit machines...
I started collecting fruit machines when i was 12..... ended up
owning an amusement arcade in 1998 in the days of £10 and £15
jackpot's! along with some classic like eachway nudger mk2,
eachway shuffle mk1 and mk2 oh and supa steppa mk2 (they were
popular back then!) i have been offered mk3's i won't have it
cos the game play is no where like the originals!
sadly i had to close it down in 2001 as i was unable to renew a
"sub lease on the arcade premisses" so i have been out of the
arcade game for 10 years now but i can still remember all the
machines i worked on in my head!
I really enjoy reading about mr p's amusements! i will visit one
day and have a walk down the memory lane!
Cheers.

Hi Mabby,
Warm welcome to the forum mate.
It's good to hear from other classic machine fans! So where
abouts was the arcade you used to look after? Was it coastal or
inland?
For me, I didn't start collecting machines until the age of
sixteen! It took quite a while for my parents to understand that
I had a genuine interest in amusement machines and as such let
me bring them into their house! As the collection grows, I then
had to buy a house purely to fit the machines which is still not
big enough!! With around 25 at home (to include fruits, bandits,
pinballs, crane, pusher, video etc) and a handful in storage -
where will it end!! ???
Fortunately, Dave @ Mr P's is an extremly good guy and devotes
practically every hour of every day into preserving classic
fruit machines for our enjoyment for years to come!! Would you
have far to travel to make a visit? Believe me, you would need
to allow most of the day if you wish to have a good play on most
of the machines. We all forget how particular machines bring
back memories of old and before you know it, you're off in your
own little world!! With the fair %'s in operation, you would be
surprised actually how long your money will last!! This is how
arcades should be run - For Amusement! You would not be
dis-apppointed.
:) :) :)

Yeah, i would book a bed and break fast for a night and make the
most in mr p's! i used to run an inland arcade in yeovil, it did
well back then! i even walked in that arcade a few months ago,
still open but hardly more than 2 or 3 customers these days!

Also you should book an extra day as I love to talk....I like to
meet everyone who comes into the arcade..I like everyone to feel
welcome.
Nice comments there Kev, thanks for that.
I can promise you will get a good game for your money. It states
amusements above the door so we like to keep it that way ;)
A MASSIVE WELCOME to the forum..... ;D

Also its a welcome from me mate!! I don't mind the MK3's but I
do see where your coming from about the game play difference
with MK2's etc. You was saying you was running your arcade in
the £10 - £15 JP era as soon as JPs went up to £25 I think
personally thats where it all went wrong!! And look where we are
now £1/£70 - £1/£500!! Don't get me wrong as if you catch these
fruits set on these high stakes at the right time they can be
very profitable as I was playing a Party Time Double Decker up
Yarmouth the other week and I put £3 in and got a £151 return
what was probably my best ever fruit profit from 1 fruit ever
but when they take money they take money!! Thats why playing the
old skool fruits gives you Amusement and you can not spend £???s
- £????s a day!!

Hi mabby, Welcome to the forum.
I totally agree that the old machines were the best, and also
think the £25 JP was a step to far....that's why we all love Mr
P's so much, Fair percentages, well maintained machines, Good
Stake/prize ratios and two super operators (Dave and Amelia that
would be).
If you managed to visit you would not be disappointed! Unless of
course you like D O N D machines ha ha

Yes indeed Mabby the 1968 act was the best. The 2005 act has
finished the industy BIG TIME.
