Agreed Chris unlike most machines it needs to be slightly newer
to increase the value..

I don't think he he is selling it guys !he just wants help with
getting it running and a little info on it .mpu1 for sure and
lovely early gem from barcrest .I'd say it came out around
1978/79 at a guess .mpu2 was just around the corner and these
mpu1 s didn't last long .I think the later mpu1s had more sound
going.on with them but still a very basic clunky machine more
akin to an electro than a mpu based machine .very nice all the
same

Gaz. Put a video of it on youtube
or on here then we can see it running.
This also would help would be buyers
If you decided to sell.
Nick quotes about 1978 .
I would say a touch earlier for 50p jackpots
But not 100% sure.
Even in 1978 most Barcrest machines
I encountered were £1 jackpot.
She does look lovely tho😊
Also, you may find a delivery date inside the
machine on a label or sticker if it has one
and of course if they are readable.

You could be right Chris about it being a little earlier but
don't forget it's 5p play not 10p so jp s would possibly be
halved .

I'd guess about 1975/76 .
My Nudge G@mbler is 1977
With £1 jackpot.
Barcrest came into fruition
(I like that!)
In 1968 and the jackpot then was 50p.
10 shillings in old money.
By the mid 70s it became £1 in tokens
With the highest cash win of 50p.
It was a lot of money back then when a bag
of chips would cost about 5p!
Tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if that machine
Is even older than 1975.

Hi, sorry about the late reply. Good to find a bit more info on
it, thanks.
I have took a video of the insides working thought it would be
more interesting than the front lol.

The only sort of Barcrest I do like, and it's a corker!
Maybe best to have a chat with Ron (BF74), whom is best place to
help.
I don't know a great deal about this machine, other than from a
similar one in the same cab etc, in that I think (Correct me if
I am wrong), but it's a sort of old style electromechanical /
electronic hybrid setup.

Hi, I would love to be able to correct you but I haven't got a
clue lol. First machine I have owned so it's all new to me. I
did remove the reels and it has the date 1976 on the side of
them so least that puts the date thing to bed.

Heh, well the date says it all frankly, as the more modern reel
sets did not start to make widespread appearance till the early
80's, however when MPU controlled stuff first started to appear,
you used to see a lot of hybrid setup's before the more modern
stepper motors came to being, just like you see now, and it
would not surprise me that on this machine, the reels would have
been supplied by the likes of Carfield or Bell-Fruit (My betting
is Carfield), or used their licence design.

Thanks for the vid Gaz.
Defo mpu1 there.
Thought it would be around 1976ish😊
Nice to see one working as well.
No battery on them boards.
Probably why it has lasted so long.
Them reels look electro don't they.
Mark could be more right than he thinks
with licence under carfield..
Something I would keep hold of
If it were mine.
