Hi folks, just completed my garage conversion and am looking to
get back into playing some classic fruit machines. I hope you
guys can help me find machines, I'm after any only fools
machines, popeye, roller coaster or simpsons. Id consider any
machine that I won't get bored with after a month, so any advise
would be appreciated, cheers guys.

quick

As to what machines to buy it comes down to what you played the
most back in the day. Being 90s machines there weren't really
any bad games like with today's machines. All the ones you
listed are really good games. I did own a blue sompsons a long
time ago, personally found it a bit boring after awhile though
so would avoid it for a home machine. The orginal m1 simpsons on
the other hand is amazing.
A few of my favs for fun home use machines are
Collouses
Crazy fruits
Eastenders
Corronation St

Hi David, the only thing I'm concern with buying older machines
is obviously when they go wrong. This roller coaster an updated
version I take it? I've read some issues with battery leaks on
dels millions, which does put me off a bit as I have very little
experience fixing these. I do tinker with arcade machines a
little, got a US mspacman cocktail table and a sega naomi
machine. I just want to get a couple of fun machines, that are
not going to breakdown very often.

Yeah the remake was released in around 2000 I believe. Not quite
as good as the original but I enjoyed it still.
A original rear opener roller coaster has just appeared on eBay
here

/>being sold by a license holder too so shouldn't be removed.
Scorp 2 and barcrest machines in my expirence are by far the
most reliable. As long as you change the battery every few years
you shouldn't really have any issues, touch wood!
The worse has to be m1 teach for me so I'd try and avoid if
possible. Spare boards are near impossible to find these days
and will set you back £80+ If you're lucky enough to find one.
I'd recommend a mpu4 machine. Pretty reliable and parts are
available easily enough should you require a new mpu in future.
They tend to sell for around £45 inc delivery at the moment.

Yep,I second that.😊
Scorp2 & mpu4.get the batteries off though!
Mpu5s a reliable tech as well if you are into
something a bit newer along with scorp4s.
Plenty about and the 'spares department'
are a plenty on ebay.
Good luck on your search Daz😊
Ha,once you start buying...
It takes over you and becomes an obsession!
Doesn't it Dave LOL😊

Hello Darren and welcome.
With regards to machines to buy, David is bang on the money. It
has to be your choice and so go for the ones you like. There are
plenty of people around to assist with repairs / parts if need
be so don't worry about that too much. Yes, there are of course
a few exceptions but everything is repairable - it just depends
how deep your pockets are at times! Ha!
I dont think you said but do you own any machines already or are
you planning on making your 1st purchase?

Appreciate the info guys, yes I'm after my first machine, ebay
seams a bit expensive and I haven't seen one that's close to me
yet. Ive got my eye on popeye but it's like 200 miles away from
me, here in Grantham.

Prices of everything fruit machine related seems to have really
gone up in price over the past couple of years, people are now
selling on ebay non working boards for the price working ones
would have been 2 years ago!

Hi there i started off collecting this year from my experience's
so far it has really been you get what you pay for unless you
have the contacts ive bought a fair few from ebay and parts and
have to say i have been largely let down and left dissapointed.
The best purchases ive had have been from the forums. Prices
have gone up even in the time ive started the way i look at it,
if its one i really enjoy and brings back the memories id spend
that in the bookies/arcade in one go anyway. im paying say 400
for a machine i love and i get to play it whenever i like get
in.
As i lack the knowledge and contacts i have to disagree with the
spare parts for mpu4 i must have bought 5 from ebay now all say
they work most do but dont hold memory, have track damage etc
which is mad if you knew the prices ive paid.i must have
searched through dozens of pages on google ringing places know
one wants to let them go. There are repair services but have
been told by various people there no good. In the end ive had a
touch that andrew kindly offered to get me out of trouble.
Sorry didn't want to sound negative there is still some good
bargains out there on ebay if you jot down the sellers name
before it gets taken down you can usually contact them and make
a deal dont let distance put you off if you get lots of
pictures/videos you can pay via paypal and get a courier to
collect quite cheaply paypal gives the protection too if he trys
to rip you off.
Hope you manage to find your machines its a brilliant
hobby/obsession there are plenty of decent people on here that
will help if you need it.you'll soon be saying "just one more
then ill be content" thats what i said after the third im now on
9 with 2 on the way ;D ;D ;D
