Child Century Of War by King Solomon

Since the caveman times, war has been used as a way of
domination and power. What has changed over the years though,
were the people affected. Now, nine out of ten casualties in war
are suffered by civilians. Most of them being children. This has
caused a very deep wound in the heart's of the youth.
This documentary made me realise that war has many aspects. The
battlefield is now were habitants such as us, live. Because of
this the loss of life from children is inevitable. This broke my
heart immensely. Their childhood being stripped away from them,
they are plagued with abnormal conditions such as PTSD. The
changes I would like to see are simple: If there is war, it must
be fought elsewhere families and children are not affected.
Displacing, killing and injuring more than thirty-million
children is not an option. Organisations such as UNICEF try to
prevent this; but as long as rebel groups such as IUF abduct
children for fighting purposes this will not stop. The real
people that are supposed to make sure these changes take place
are the masses. We cannot wait for leaders and humanitarians to
do something. As long as this does not happen, I personally feel
the outcome of war will be the same; A damaged generation. From
this documentary I have learnt to appreciate my privileges and
always acknowledge war-zones such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan
where children, the same age and younger are witnessing the
fault-lines of humanity. Countless bodies of children with
bullet-torn corpses; either child soldiers or simply refugees
searching for food or refuge are found everyday. This is
completely unethical of our global civilization. As a person; I
have changed quite a lot. I now understand the real issues
facing our generation. One Groznian boy was asked what his goals
for the future were; his tearful answer was "Revenge".
It is important to remember that sometimes we underestimate the
knowledge of our children. We don't understand that they face
the same problems and even more than we do with a smile. They
carry on playing, laughing and living life as normal as they
can. For that, I salute them and keep their dreams in my mind
for the future. If we can prevent children from witnessing war,
then we might have a slim chance of preventing war itself. As
the proud chants and brave cries of the children echo through my
mind, I understand that this world is not worth killing and
destroying. Let us all live and strive for a better world, a
better humanity and a better life for all.
