       The story of Samson

       A few years ago I was taking a college class that was history of
       the Bible.  I found the story of Samson interesting when the
       professor pointed out that part of the story might be a little
       different than what we have read and been told as children.
       Samson was made to grind. We have all seen the pictures that
       show Samson struggling to push a grinding wheel.  Apparently
       when the Bible was interpreted and written into what we know as
       the King James version, the word that was originally used could
       be interpreted in two different ways. Samson was made to grind
       could have also been Samson was made to sire.  The concept would
       have been believable given the fact that it's a common practice
       to breed for stronger offspring. Agriculturists do the same
       thing with plants and animals. As barbaric as it may seem,
       humans have been subjected to the practice as slave owners did
       the same back in the 1800's when they made the strongest male
       mate with he strongest female in order to insure the strongest
       future slaves.  It doesn't change the wonderful works that God
       did in the Bible nor does it change the basic story.  I just
       thought it was an interesting twist to the story.

       That is a different concept. I guess it wouldn't really surprise
       me to find out this could be true. I will have to go read that
       story again and try to view it with different eyes. They didn't
       have the machines and resources back then that we do now so it
       was probably imperative to have strong hands to accomplish tasks
       that the oxen couldn't do. I have always wondered how things
       were done in a time where tools and resources were limited. For
       example, look at a picture of the ark they recently built in
       Williamstown. I visited that place and I will tell you it is
       huge!! I still wonder how Noah was able to build something of
       that size without the resources we have today.
