       Mélenchon has a classic social democratic project. In L'Esprit
       de 45 [ The spirit of 45 , 2013], Ken Loach clearly shows what
       the British Labor project was after the Second World War:
       creation of public services in all sectors, nationalizations...
       It was that project , largely realized, which the right later
       insisted on destroying with Thatcherism, and which today would
       be considered extremist, almost Soviet. Mélenchon could not even
       consider going that far.

       on the side of Thatcherism, of the social
       violence of neoliberalism. Mélenchon's electorate is divided
       over what to do in the second round. He gave instructions not to
       give a single vote to the far right, but this may not be
       enough... All my friends voted for Mélenchon and, evidently,
       none of them think, not even for a second, about voting for
       Marine Le Pen.

       It's up to you. Some will resign themselves to voting for
       Macron, despite the dislike he generates... But we are not
       representative of the Mélenchon electorate, and the anger
       against Macron may be so strong that some in other sectors of
       society are willing to do anything to let him know. Several of
       my friends are going to abstain. And that's also what I'm going
       to do. It's hard for me to vote for someone who, every time I
       wanted to express my opinion, sent the most violently repressive
       police to me, choked me with clouds of tear gas, terrorized
       people into stopping their protests.
