Emptypromises had moved on from the first group he had run into.
So far, he hadn't found a single trace of Phoenixpaw. He
wondered where she might have gone and where he had last seen
her. It had been just before she left camp. Looking around, he
remembered she'd gone into the forest and then he'd followed the
trail to the camp ground. For a few yards it went on and then
the rain had washed it away. Turning around, he retraced his
steps, stopping at a boulder and climbing on top of it. From
here, the cat could see more. Making a full circle,
Emptypromises checked the area, but found nothing.

Pringles trotted behind him a few yards away, looking at the
scenery. "Wow, I've never been out here before!" she meowed.
"It's cool. Hey, have you ever eaten a bird? I just saw one fly
by. I wonder what they taste like. My friend caught a bird
once....." And she rambled on.

He smiled. "Yeah, plenty of them. I can show you how to catch
one some day. You could come back to my Clan and become an
apprentice there." Then Emptypromises scented the air. "Wait a
sec." Darting under a bush, he was gone for about ten seconds
before emerging with a raven. "Here."

"Woah! You can hunt?" she mewed in awe, and bent down to sniff
the black bird. It was huge! Pri took a little bite out of it
and found it delicious.

K.R. padded through the territory, not far from the other cats.
She knew they were there but didn't do anything. If they wanted
to talk to her then they would talk to her.

Emptypromises grinned. "In my Clan, you learn to hunt, and
fight, and some cats learn how to use herbs." Checking the air,
he found the scent of K.R. and padded towards it.

"Hey, I smell someone!" she meowed, tail pointing up and ears
flicking forward. Oh, looked like the other cat had found the
scent too. She shrugged and padded after the tom. Oops! Still
don't know his name! Oh well, I'll ask later.
