Zeropaw's eyes blinked open. He almost thought he was back in
his log. But no. He was curled up in a moss nest, in a cozy den
with the other apprentices. StarClan, he missed his log. But at
least he was with Heathpaw. "Heathy? You awake?"

Heathpaw was messily spread across her nest on her back. Her leg
twitched as she let out a huge snore and opened her eyes
blearily. She was a wild sleeper but a pretty light one. "Dun
wanna be. What is it?"

"Dawn patrol." He huffed, blinking the sleep away. The first
rays of dawn poked out of the horizon as he left the den. Ugh.

"Meeehhhhh." Heath rolled over onto her side, only slightly more
awake. She glared at the light entering the den. "Stupid sun."
She huffed.

The male apprentice grinned sleepily at her, giving her a flick
on the nose with his tail-tip. He made his way out of the den
fully, and waited for Heathpaw to get up. "Get up, Heath! We
don't want to be late and get in trouble."

She rolled over all the way and squirmed out of the den, her
toffee and chocolate fur sticking up in place. "I'm coming I'm
coming."
