       [center]PROLOGUE
       Peppermint padded through the small town of Oakdale, panting
       hard. The skin on the bottom of her paws brushed against the
       cement of the road, and she yelped with pain as a stone pressed
       into her pads. But she had to get to her destination. For her
       kits.
       As she climbed up a white fence, her kittens kicked her. Hard.
       She lurched forward, and fell onto the other side. Well, it
       wasn't the most graceful way to get there, but it worked. As if
       on cue, a shy black tomcat with one white sock pushed into the
       yard. His green eyes lit up as he saw his mate.
       "Hi, Peppermint." The tom murmured.
       "We need to talk.." Peppermint sighed...
