The Kid is Restless ;; joining
By: Whoa Date: April 8, 2018, 12:24 am

"I can walk on my own..." came an equally
impatient and glum mew. A trio of apprentice aged littermates
made their way through the forest slowly. The smallest of the
three, a cream colored molly, had spoken, ears flicked back as
her elder brother Rusty tried to near carry her once more.
The ginger-and-brown tom was persistent in his actions, until
his other sister, Rose, spoke up.
"Rusty, I'm sure we'll find a place to rest
soon. Dandelion made it this far without being carried."
Rose gave her sister an encouraging smile, but Dandelion merely
rolled her eyes and looked at the grass her three working paws
met.
Rusty gave a huff and meowed, "We can take a break here. There's
plenty of cover around us." He honestly didn't want to rest
here. The scent of other cats was strong despite a lack of
borders, and though the three were looking for this place and
its inhabitants, led by their mother's dying request and their
father's old stories, they weren't ready to meet these cats.
Rusty wouldn't have come if hadn't promised his mother he'd
protect his sisters and had the strange dream of a soft hearted
cat telling him he must go. The familiarity of this place was
irking him, how he and his sisters managed to make it based on
false memories they would claim were due to stories told by
their father.
Rose sat down, ears flicking towards her crippled sister.
"I can try and see if the herbs that old cat
told us about are around. Maybe they'll help your leg heal up
faster, like the stories." All she got was a sigh as
Dandelion laid down on her pale belly, heavily damaged leg
splayed out awkwardly and uncomfortably beside her as she swept
her tail over it.
"I'll be fine." She avoided Rose and Rusty's
gazes, concentrating on the sounds of the forest around her. She
felt out of place here. The closeness of the trees drove her
mad, but the shelter of trees overhead was better than being in
the sun. For now, the birds chirping and the squirrel chatter
above kept her at ease for the most part.

Since Hal had joined this group of misfits trying to create a
Clan, he'd been around quite a lot, welcoming those who were
coming to take part in it, whether by choice or by necessity, or
perhaps a strange dream like many of the older cats had
descriptors to him. The kitten approached the three, having
heard a it of noise from their conversation. When he saw
Dandelion, his eyes immediately widened and he felt the need to
get tight to work, wanting to put to use what his mother had
taught him in his last life, the memories that remained despite
the huge gap of time. He didn't want to intrude however, so as
he approached, the black feline called out, "He-he-hey, c-could
I he-help you? I'd like-like to a-a-ask your names if you-if you
don't mind. If-if you'll allo-allow me, I can also he-help you
with th-tha-that brok-broken leg of yours."

Rusty turned to look at the kit, the fur on his shoulders
bristling for a brief moment before deciding the stuttering kit
wasn't a threat. Instead he silently inspected Hal from where he
sat, ears facing towards the black furred kit.
"My name is Rose, this is my brother Rusty and
my sister Dandelion." Rose would be the first to speak,
not at all skeptical of the kit like her brother. The
ginger-and-white molly approached the kit with caution however,
mostly not to raise any alarms. "How would you
know how to help my sister's leg though? You're a little
young... where is your family?"
As her siblings took their stances with how they'd treat the
kit, Dandelion merely glanced at her leg before shifting her
weight just enough to painlessly stand up. "Just ask
him how to do it, if it'll get you two to stop fretting over me
I don't mind how old someone is." She turned her dark
green gaze from Rose to Hal.

Hal decided not to explain himself, as he knew it'd be much more
confusing than the explanation was worth. The kitten headed off
to grab a stick long enough to use, a second stick the help keep
the first in place, cobwebs, and some poppy seeds. As he
returned, he placed the gathered materials down, having come up
with a simpler way to explain the situation. "My mom was
sk-ski-skilled in ca-caring for others. I pick-picked some of it
up." He'd explain what he was doing with each thing as he went.
"So-so these pop-poppy seeds will he-he-help with the-the pain."
Hal gave them to Dandelion before moving on to the second part,
the more difficult part. "No-now your leg, it-it's going to be a
bit-bit har-harder. These two sti-sti-sticks will hold yo-your
leg straight, and the-the cobwebs wi-will hold the sticks
and-and-and your leg in place. I'll have to-to
stra-straigh-straighten it first, tho-though. O-okay? Mind if I
put-put it on you-your leg?" If she gave him permission, he
would move forward, placing the sticks down as he would move to
grab hold of her leg gently. He'd then suddenly push it, lining
up the bone as it should be which would likely hurt more than
expected. Once she would relax, if she did, he'd use the sticks
on either side to keep it straight and would wrap the cobwebs
around it tightly as to keep it from moving at all.

Dandelion only gave a nod, looking over the supplies for a
moment. Her leg probably wouldn't heal properly, given how long
she's been going about without truly pausing for it to heal, but
this would help it stop hurting. She laid back down on the
ground, watching the kit move to align her bone.
Rose had to hold back Rusty from pushing Hal away when Dandelion
let out a pained yelp when her bone was realigned. Rose's
worried gaze watched as Dandelion struggled to sit still, all
three of the trio calming down as Hal continued with making a
splint.
Dandelion sat up a bit, glancing at the splint the kit made for
her leg. She then glanced at Hal. "Thank you... Your mother
taught you well." She got to her paws slowly, looking over her
leg a few times as her siblings also came over to inspect it,
Rusty giving a small nod to Hal in gratitude.

Wick stood off to the side, looking like he just saw a ghost.
More like he just saw a three month old just realign and splint
a leg by himself. Worst of all, everyone was fine with this.
Suddenly he grew some newfound respect and fear for this small
child.
"Wow, um...okay," he said, slowly approaching them. "Yeah, she
taught you very well. That was...impressive." His eyes ran over
the she-cat's repaired leg as he looked towards the unfamiliar
trio. "I'm guessing you guys are looking for a place to rest?"
