       it seems i've been rejoined with a part of me i'd lost

       Angel padded forward, the disabled kitten thinking about her
       parents. Cats were trying to replace them. Good cats that she
       would like otherwise.
       Her blue eyes welled up with tears as the white little cat
       frowned, wondering what to do. Her twisted leg didn't need
       taking care of- she could do it! They didn't have to worry about
       her quite so much- she could do things!
       Suddenly, the look of four paws right in her line of view made
       her look up.
       There was her mother and father, standing right there.
       Her blue eyes widened, and she smiled, heart full of joy.
       "Momma! Dadda! Y-you're alive! How... How did you escape?"
       While waiting for the answer, Angel watched her parents exchange
       a look.
       "We didn't survive, dear. We died. We've been watching over you
       since you left, as angels, and we decided that we should give
       you something so you can always see us, no matter what. Use this
       power well- you can see other spirits with it as well."
       Angel smiled, the kitten flicking her tail in happiness.
       "Well, I still have you, right? I'm so happy! Momma, Dadda!"
       The kitten limped forward, about to try to hug her parents but
       she tripped, causing her to roll right into the two spirits,
       making them waver.
       And then they faded off.
       Angel whimpered, heartbroken at this turn of events.
       "Momma? Dadda? Why.. Why did you go?"
       Frowning, the kitten stared at the ground and placed her paws
       over her face.
       "Why did you have to go again, when I'd just found you....? Is
       it my fault?"
