[shadow=white,left]Names[/shadow] are also a fairly important
part of Homestuck. And everyday life for that matter. Seeing as
we use them everyday of our lives forever. Just saying. This one
will be more directed at the trolls because I'm fairly sure the
human kid's names are just random names that Hussie likes. The
actual reason is I have no idea why he named them that. Moving
       on.
First off, the name of their planet. Alternia and Beforus. If
you don't get this one, please go jump off a bridge. You're
stupidity is a shame to humanity. And that's saying something.
The names of the trolls planet is so unbelievably obvious,
Karkat figured it out. That's saying something too. Alternate.
       Before us. Done.
The next bit is more complicated than that. The names of the
trolls themselves. This is going to be edited a few times before
I'm satisfied with it so be prepared. The names of the trolls
follow a 6x6 rule. Six letters in the first name and six letters
in the last. The completed name has 12 letters which corresponds
to their connection with the zodiac. This does not apply to the
ancestors but I'll get to that later in this entry. As you may
have noticed, some of the trolls are named after their
corresponding zodiac sign. These would include Aradia and
Tavros. Those are kind of obvious. But where did the other names
come from? This I actually figured out by accident while goofing
off on the computer, which eventually caused me to create this
guide. Karkat, Mituna, Kanaya, Latula, Vriska, and Meenah all
share the same origins for their name. It's the sandskrit names
for their zodiac signs. Sandskrit is an ancient language used in
India around/before the greeks were around. Karkata. Mithuna.
Kanya. Tula. Vrishchika. Mina. Any of these sound familiar? The
only one that I can see as a long shot by way of this theory is
Vriska. Her sandskrit name is long and complicated. Since her
name needed to follow the 6x6 rule, you take out the 'hchi' and
bazinga. You have Vriska. I'd like to note that Tavros's
sandskrit name is very similar to Vriska's: Vrishabha. This most
likely caused the shipping between the two in the web comic. The
sandskrit doesn't stop at first names though. The sandskrit name
for Capricorn is Makara. Hm. Wonder where I've seen ThAt before.
From what I can tell though, that's it for the sandskrit. Sollux
Captor's name is the most obvious thing in the world if you know
this. The Gemini constolation has two very bright stars, rather
than just one like all the others, making them known as 'the
twins'. Those stars are Pollux and Castor. Pollux Castor. Pollux
Castor. Sollux Captor!! Wow. That was obvious. From there,
things get more abstract. Nepeta Leijon's first name is the name
for a genius of flowering plants. You may know it better as
catnip. I could go into how this is related to Nepeta's actual
personality but I'll skip if for now. I'm also going to move on
for right now because that's all I have at the moment. However,
I will be researching the other parts of their names and edit
them into this one. Most likely before I add another part.
Karkat = Derived from Karkata, sanskrit for Cancer
Kankri = Derived from Cancri, the word used when identifying the
       stars of the Cancer constellation.
Vantas = A drug for prostate cancer
Aradia = A goddess and Pagan witch
Damara = Another name for Krishna meaning 'rope around belly'
Medigo = A place where many religions believe the final battle
       will be
       Tavros = Derived from Taurus
Rufioh = Rufio, a Spanish name meaning red hair
       Nitram = Martin spelled backwards
Sollux = Derived from Pollux, one of the two brightest stars in
       the Gemini constellation
Mituna = Derived from Mithuna, sandskrit for Gemini
Captor = Derived from Castor, the other brightest star in the
       Gemini constellation
Nepeta = A class of plants, otherwise known as catnip
       Meulin = A French surname
       Leijon = Swedish for lion
Kanaya = Derived from Kanya, sandskrit for Virgo
Porrim = Derived from Porrimu, a star in the Virgo constellation
Maryum = Connected to the Virgin Mary
       Terezi = Albanian for Libra
Latula = Derived from Tula, sandskrit for Libra
Pyrope = Latin for fire eyes
Vriska = Derived from Vrishchika, sandskrit for Scorpio
Aranea = Latin for Spider's web
Serket = A egyptian goddess represented with or as a scorpion
Equius =From equus, Latin for horse
Horuss = An egyptian sun god
Zahhak = A figure from iranian mythology, he was strong and
       clever but easily manipulated
Gamzee = Turkish for coquettish looking
       Kurloz =
       Makara = Sandskrit for Capricorn
Eridan = From Eridanus the River, a constellation located near
       the Aquarius constellation
Cronus = From Kronos, a greek god
Ampora = From amparo, Spanish for protection
       Feferi = Latin for cuttlefish
Meenah = From Mina, sandskrit for Pisces
       Peixes= Portuguese for Pisces
Let's focus on the ancestors really quick. Now the Ancestors
won't have much to be said about them regardless of how much I
research. I've come up with the three staples of their names,
much of which I've gathered from Mindfang because she has the
most information about her. They also follow a number rule,
however, rather than 6x6, their's is 8x8. The only one who
breaks this the Grandhigh Blood. But he's the GHB, so he can do
that. Since I get this from Mindfang, we'll use her as an
example. Her full title is the Marquise Spinneret Mindfang.
       Marquise. M-1 A-2 R-3 Q-4 U-5 I-6 S-7 E-8. Mindfang. M-1 I-2 N-3
G-4 F-5 A-6 N-7 G-8. Marquise is her title and what she is
commonly know as, like the Signless or the Summoner. It shows
her standing in the hemospectrum, despite her crimes. I will
admit that when I first discovered this, I thought her first
name used the same rule but spelling it out I found out that it
has 8 letters and does not apply. I think this is because it is
a part of a spider, her associated creature. This may apply to
all the ancestors or just her. My theory is that their first
name corresponds to a part of their associated animal that can
pass for a name. This does not mean you should name your fan
ancestor Tail Somecrap. Dorsal is ok. That's a pretty name for a
girl. Ecdysis would be a cool name for a guy troll. Or whatever.
Be creative. Finally is their last name. This is usually two
small words that describe them put together. Mindfang. For her,
it describes her wit, as well as her ability. The fang part is
her viciousness and sharpness. She probably has a smart mouth
too. Let's look at some other ones though. There are two
ancestors that would break this rule if not for how their name
is spelled. One of these is the Psiioniic. Even if you don't use
the double i's, his name still has 9 letters. However, Hussie
spells it with that greek fork thing that my computer cannot
make because it is stupid [s]and I don't know how to[/s]. Doing
that changes the letters to only 8, and it does work because
that is a letter! The other is Darkleer after he had been
exiled. Since he is no longer the E%ecutor, he became the
Expatriate. However, the only time he is called this is in
Mindfang's journal. Since she uses the same spelling quirk as
Vriska, his name becomes the Expatri8. Since this is the only
time he's been called that in canon, it applies.
To finish up I'm going to touch up on Chum/Troll handles. This
definately has rules to it and I've seen it ignored again and
again. I believe it's because people are just ignorant of it.
Hussie actually puts the rule in plain sight in the Alpha
session. GCAT. Those are the letters used in DNA. The letters
match up G=C A=T. It's spelled out for you perfectly clear. You
just haven't noticed. Every single Pesterchum and Troll handle,
use these letters. They can be absolutely anything so long as
the words start with G,C,A, or T. Let me list some for you so
show you. twinArmaggedons: TA. cuttlefishCuller: CC.
ghostyTrickster: GT. turntechGodhead: TG. I've seen loads and
loads of fan troll/kid handles with s's and l's and q's and no.
Now you know how to make your troll even more accurate by using
this rule! I will admit, it takes some serious creativity,
vocabulary and possibly thesaurus.com, but you will feel so
proud of yourself once you figure it out. The words used can be
just about anything but should reflect their personality. Duh.

For the next part, I'm at a bit of a loss. I have some things I
plan to explain but I'd like to save them for later. If there's
something you don't understand, please post it and I'll cover
       it.

The Seer's Ultimate Guide to Homestuck

I've decided that for the next part I will cover Alternia and
their connection to Beforus. This will mostly focus on their
culture but will most likely stray off into other related
subjects such as history and whatnot. In truth, I hadn't
intended to cover this. Most of it seems very obvious, I mean
it's not like Karkat is hiding it while lording it over John.
But I've noticed a surpising amount of people having problems
with it. So I've decided to elaborate and point some things out.
First off let's start with the hemocaste! This is possibly the
most important aspect of Alternian culture. In fact, it is!
There's a reason it has been fought over not once, but twice!
For that reason, I am going to make this one fact as plain and
obvious as I can. THE HEMO CASTE IS AWEFUL UNLESS YOUR ON TOP!!
I'm serious. Everything yellow and bellow is a slave. Unless you
get lucky. Then you get a horrible job because no one else will
hire you because you don't have good blood. The yellow bloods
are more practical than anything. Or at least it would be if
they were treated well. A powerful psionic can do what ten
trolls can do and probably faster. There aren't many powerful
psionics. If you are one, you get the lucky opportunity to be
wired into a ship, while you're still alive, drive it under high
blood trolls who probably treat you like crap, only to slowly
get your mind, memories, and senses sucked away from you as you
become part of the ship. Fun, right? Surely working on Alternia
is better. Nope! They're probably massed together to do all the
heavy lifting such as digging tunnels, mining, loading cargo,
ect. The conditions are probably horrible as well. Who knows how
well they get treated by the high bloods who watch them. The
bronze and maroon bloods have it even worse. I can barely even
imagine what they have to deal with. And I have a really good
imagination. They are the lowest of the low and sure are treated
that way. Next up is the mid-bloods. This is olive, jade, and
teal bloods. They're in a little better position. My guess is
that they're seperated 50/50 between slaves and whatever else.
Most likely, the slaves are those who have done crimes, sold
into it by others, those in debt, or those in just really bad
situations. They're not very high but they're above mustard
bloods and that's a good thing. Now these have more room to move
up the caste system. Just look at Redglare. She became a very
well known legislacerator, though she had to work very hard to
do it. Olive seem to have the most freedom out of them. Jade
bloods are sent underground to take care of the Mother Grub,
never to see the light of day or night again. And teals have
more pressure because they're the closest to the blue bloods
without actually being one. So naturally they should be better
than the jade bloods and olive bloods. The olive whereas, are
free to do whatever. No one seems to expect much from them so it
doesn't matter what they do so long as they keep out of trouble.
Both Nepeta and the Disciple had this freedom. They're carriers
changed pretty well. The Disciple from whatever she was doing
before (whether it was dancing or living in the wild or whatever
your head cannon is) to following the Signless and becoming his
scribe. Same with Nepeta. She lived in and off of the forest and
the other trolls didn't really seem to expect much from her.
That might have been her personality but it might not have been.
That's more theory than anything. Next up is the blue bloods.
These guys are the highest of the land-dwellers, and act that
way too. They have huge houses, lots of land and money and
slaves, and can do absolutely anything to anyone underneath
them. They can murder as many lowbloods as they want and it
doesn't matter. Same applies to the sea-dwellers. Sea-dwellers
are notorious for their treatment of land-dwellers. Just look at
our dear darling Dualscar. He's obviously a winner. Sea-dwellers
are considered a different class from the blue bloods.
Sea-dwellers aren't just high ranking, they're royalty. This
corresponds to how they think that they're all connected to the
Condesce in some way. They're actually probably right too. With
the trolls system of reproduction, who knows. Not to mention, if
it being a sea-dweller started from one specific spectrum color,
it would her. The fact that there is only one, maybe two,
fuchsia bloods at a time would explain this. Like repeatedly
breeding a wolfdog with an actual wolf until it's purely a wolf
again. Takes forever but it is possible. Gotten away from the
topic for a bit. Back to the Sea-dwellers. One noted thing about
said dwellers, is that they hit on the Condesce. A lot. If
Eridan and Cronus are any indication of this, I wouldn't be
surprised if it were true. However, this is not definite. Since
we have only ever seen one set of violet bloods that all share
that one similar trait, I can't say for sure. You're free to
headcanon with that all you please. Now that I've gone through
all the colors, let me tell you what that means. If you are
higher than another troll, you can do whatever you want to the
class below you. But you have to be careful not to offend anyone
who might be above you and have a relationship with someone
below you. Nepeta's and Equius's relationship is a good example
of this. Nepeta wears a hat, a pair of shoes, and a tail the
exact same color as Equius's blood color. Seeing as Alternia
isn't fun town, wearing his color may provide a kind of warning
saying, 'Hey! You better watch it! I have friends in high places
and this proves it!' The farther the difference in class, the
more the lower blood troll has to wear. Even Eridan wears some
of Feferi's color on his rings. He's probably not going to get
attacked but it's better safe than sorry sometimes. I'm not sure
how this would go with matesprites seeing as no one wore the
other's color in those situation but there's probably some kind
of validation to prevent a troll from accidentally killing a
sea-dweller's girlfriend. Who even knows about ashen and black
romance. Now much of this is theories and head canons. This
isn't fact until Hussie says otherwise. However, keep in mind
just how horrible the hemocaste is. This is the thing that keeps
Karkat from sharing with his closest of friends. This is what
has been rebelled against twice and what has caused adults to be
forced from the home planet. (Just saying this really quick,
that was a really dumb move on the Empress's part because
without adults there to force a certain idea and expectation on
a young troll, they're free to think and do whatever they want.
Remember how no one cared what Karkat's blood color was? Good
going Condy!) This is not a happy situation, even for the young
trolls who now have so much freedom.
Next is how the hemocaste most likely got created in the first
place, the Hemospectrum. The hemospectrum is the difference in
blood color among trolls. This should be stating the obvious. I
really wish there was more on troll anatomy and genetics so I
could explain why it is the way it is. Most likely it's merely a
variation in the species, much like the color of a dog's fur or
even the color of a human's skin. All it is is a difference in
amount of a certain chemical. Is what it should be. So then it
doesn't matter what one's blood color is. This isn't the case.
Rather than a variation, the hemospectrum is more like a system
of subspecies. Each of the different blood colors determines how
long they will live, what mutations they are susceptible to, and
even their personality to a certain extent. Naturally if they
are subspecies they must have all originated from the same base
species, which is most likely the Condesce. The troll world may
have been inhabited by loads and loads of fuchsia bloods who,
over time, mutated and evolved into the different trolls we see
now. As the gene pool widened, the amount of fuchsia bloods
would have dropped as they mixed with other colors (we'll stick
with that so I don't have to come up with a better word). This
would make sense seeing as there is only one or two trolls with
fuchsia blood on modern Alternia at one time. This would also
explain why the title of Imperious Condescension is always given
to a fuchsia blood. By all rights, they are the origin species
and comparitively 'better' than the other trolls. I put that in
quotations because if they were better than all the other trolls
then why did they evolve? Plus Condesce is a royal turd nugget.
[s]who killed my signless!!![/s] Now life span is also something
decided by blood color. The lowest naturally occuring classes,
Aradia's blood color, will only life between 12-24 sweeps (about
between 30-50 human years) whereas the higher blood classes will
live for hundreds if not thousands of sweeps. Mindfang was
already a few hundred sweeps old when she was killed. Now it's a
bit tricky to determine how long a troll will live. Not just
because of the variate lifespans but also because of the violent
nature of Alternia. Of all the highblood ancestors, only the
Grand Highblood and the E%ecutioner die naturally. That is of
course with the assumption that they died before the Vast Glub.
And I have no true idea of how long a Condesce could even live.
Most likely there is no recorded answer in Alternian history as
the tradition for a new Condese is a fight to the death between
the current one and the Heiress. She is the oldest troll by far
and she's still not dead yet. She could very well live for
thousands of sweeps, and the way she talks about ruling over the
new Alternia she wants to make, it's entirely possible! Now in
this, I am not including the Psiioniic. His life was greatly
extended because of the Condesce's powers. [s]these things would
be wonderful to remember for sadstuck fanfics. Just saying[/s]
Blood color also effects one's abilities. This seems to be based
of a survival mechanism than anything. The highbloods are very
sturdy, increasing as you move up the hemospectrum, and they can
survive most anything depending on where they are. In response
to their sturdiness and strength, the lower bloods most likely a
tendency towards psychic powers. This does not mean that every
low blood has powers. Not every yellow blood has powers like
Sollux and if they do, they're definately not as strong as
Sollux. He's a special case. Same applies to Vriska and Equius.
Few cerulean bloods will have that ability. It is a Serket
thing. Same with Equius. Not all blue bloods are going to be
that strong. It may be that there are more like him, however I
doubt that all blue bloods are like that. The lower you are on
the hemospectrum, the more likely you are to have powers. The
higher you are on the spectrum, the longer you will live and the
sturdier you will be. I'd also like to point out that the higher
a troll is on the spectrum, the more violent they tend to be.
This is due to Doc Scratch's conditioning for the new session.
Feferi is a HUGE exception to this rule. Please please please!
Don't make a seadweller that acts like Feferi. They act more
like Eridan than anything. Then there's the matter of
Subjuggulators. Subjuggulators are indigo bloods. I am not sure
if this applies to all indigo bloods because there are no others
for me to compare with Gamzee. Even his ancestor was kind of...
yeah. I'm not including Kurloz in this because 1.) he's not
Alternian, he's from Beforus and 2.) he also had a tendency to
manipulate people, Meulin included. My general rule for that,
never trust a person who wears their underwear on the outside. I
am going to make the assumption that most indigo bloods are like
the Makaras but just like everything else, there's probably
exceptions. While I'm kind of on anatomy or whatever this is,
I'm going to point out a few more things. First we'll start off
with trolls and the sun. Trolls aren't like vampires. They don't
burst into flames when they're in the sunlight. This should be
apparent just looking at Terezi. Short term expossure to the sun
isn't too bad unless the troll happens to be looking at the sun.
As nocturnal creatures, a troll's eyes are used to the dark.
Having such intense sunlight will blind them very quickly if
they do look at the sun. As long term effects go, their skin
will most likely be effected next with bad sunburns within a
fairly short amount of time. These creatures are not meant for
the sun. I don't think that Earth's sun will have the same
effect on them however. The Alternian sun seems to be more
intense than our sun. So while they would most likely have ill
effects if they came into contact with Earth's sun, it wouldn't
be as bad or as fast.
Next I'm going to turn to the raising of wrigglers on Alternia.
I am pointing this out because I was reading something the other
day about a fan troll and it said under relationships: Gamzee's
       sister.
       ...
No. Please. No. Trolls do not have sisters. Trolls do not have
brothers. Trolls do not have mothers, fathers, cousins, uncles,
or great great grandmothers. A trolls family consists of one
young troll in their lusus. That's it. Ta da. There is a reason
for this. Trolls have never been big on families. Their violent
nature doesn't let them. They don't even have the grubs
themselves. I'm not going to go over the whole thing of pailing
because I'm pretty sure that Karkat covers that five ways to
Sunday. After the slurry, the trolls are eggs lain by the mother
grub. I don't really know that situation since all adult trolls
are supposed to be off planet. I guess the few jade bloods take
care of the mother grub on planet but aren't allowed to get
involved? Anyways, after the trolls hatch they go to a cavern
for trials. These trials are not easy. They are not 'here, climb
over this rock! Good grub! You pass!' No. Many of the grubs do
not survive the trials. I'm thinking that if 100 grubs go into
the caverns, between 30 and 40 will come out. Largely head
cannon but considering that Alternians use the blood of culled
grubs for paint, certain dyes, and possibly condiments (don't
know much about this one, again, weird situation) a lot of young
trolls have to die for that. Lowbloods expesially. I've gone
over why there are more of those so Imma leave that alone. At
some point in time during that they'll go through pupation and
come out looking around the age of 3 or 4 human years. No idea
when this happens. I just know it happens before they go to the
surface with their lusus because during the pupation period they
are completely defenseless and there are some lusi, like
Vriska's, that don't have the ability to care for a troll during
that time. In fact, most of them can't. While I'm on this, let
me delve into the whole mutant fantroll matter a little more.
With the HUGE assumption that a mutant troll manages to get into
the cavern without being culled by something, making through the
caverns as a huge target because they look and smell different
through the others, they face the challenge of living without a
lusus. The lusus are breed to respond to a specific blood color,
most likely through smell, and to take care of whichever troll
they choose. This is not to say that every bronze blood will
have a Tinkerbull. Rather, it means that unless there has been a
mutation like the one in the current troll, which there most
likely hasn't, no lusus will claim the troll and it will be left
to die. There must have been a predecessor of the mutant color
for a lusus to either be breed [s]cause the Condesce is totally
going to let that happen after the Signless[/s] or a mutation
must occur among the lusus themselves for one to be willing to
accept the mutant troll. Very very highly unlikely. Now once
there has already been a mutation amongst the trolls, it is
going to happen again. This is a definite. This because of how
troll reproduction works. Trolls don't have mothers and fathers
like we do, even though they do have ancestors who resemble them
greatly. Imagine the slurry as one big huge random number maker.
While there are an infinite numbers to choose from, the numbers
will ultimately repeat if it is truly random. This is exactly
how the slurry works. When everything gets mixed up, the alleles
will combine randomly to create the new troll since they don't
have only a mother code and a father code to follow that
dictates how the troll will look. So while there are infinite
trolls that can be created, the ones that are, are most likely
repeats. The numbers of created trolls are limited because the
same combinations that are created at the beginning are
reentered into the slurry when trolls add genetic material
during pailing. But what about personalities? How can one troll
act so much like their ancestor with little to no influence from
them at all? This is a very abstract idea since personality is
such a vast as well as odd thing to look at. Some of it I can
say without a doubt is genetics. Remember what I said about
highbloods being more violent and cruel? Yeah. That counts. So
it's entirely possibly that the personality of Miindfang was
quiet literally passed down to Vriska. This doesn't mean that
every troll will be like their ancestor. Most likely, they won't
be. Or at least not exactly. They may keep trace amounts of
their ancestors personality. Even Feferi has similarities with
the Condesce. Every so often a troll will act nothing like their
predecessors. It's like breeding really sweet cute dogs. They
might come from a family of the sweetest little fluff balls
you've ever seen but there's still a possibility that you're
going to get a dog in you're litter that's just down right
evilness, regardless of how cute they look. Other than that,
there really isn't much on why a troll acts the way they do.
Just like humans. I can't tell you why you do or don't act like
you're mom or dad so unfortunately I can't give you much more
than theories with a lot of this. Isn't that what a psychologist
does though? I also want to add in a quick head cannon I found.
This isn't mine and I'm not even sure how possible it is but I
like it all the same. Of Alternians, the females are the more
aggressive gender. Over time they grew fat pads to protect vital
organs. So when Karkat told Tavros to stop playing games for
girls, he was basically telling him to stop doing stupid stuff
that would get him killed. Again, it's not mine but I do like
it. And it does make sense! Trolls have absolutely no need for
human boobs. None whatever. Dunno what grubs eat but it's not
milk, I know that. So what else would they be for? On the other
hand, it doesn't make loads and loads of sense either because if
that was indeed the purpose of a troll's breasts, wouldn't they
cover the entire front and not have a space between as well as
cover more area? Sea trolls especially? I don't know the answer
to that question. I don't really care what a troll has under
their shirt. I'll say this though because this is true. Trolls
do not have bely buttons or the other buttons higher up. They
have no need of them. Trolls are hatched, not born so they won't
have bellybuttons and they don't drink milk as wigglers so they
don't have the other buttons, regardless of whether their fat
pads or not. Take this into consideration when writing your
stories or drawing your pictures. Or don't. I don't care and I
won't know. I avoid that stuff whenever I can.
As for culture! Well... I'm pretty sure that's just Hussie
getting lazy and not doing too horribly much with it other than
drawing horns on Peter Pan so he can make all his goofy
references. Other stuff he did intentionally to mess with
people! Equius's art is a beautiful example of this! Because
that's just freaking creepy. Don't get me wrong. I actually like
Equius. He's a good guy. But his interests, those paintings
mostly are just... bizarre. But a lot of Alternian culture is
Hussie being ironic so there isn't just loads and loads I can
talk about with that. One thing I can talk about though it their
very obvious warrior based culture. Notice how ever troll kid
has a weapon? How ever troll kid can use said weapon? It's
probably something they have to practice everyday. Either to
survive or just so they have a future. Almost every job
available to a troll, if not all, are related to warfare and
most likely require knowing how to handle a weapon and some kind
of military strategy. Even the lawmakers have to know how to
fight. During trials, the trolls have to fight as they present
their case. And if you're not one of the very bests at fighting,
you're not going to have a very long career. One job that isn't
directed at warfare is the job jade bloods are given, which is
taking care of the Mother Grub. While that isn't necessarily
fighting, it sure as heck isn't easy and I wouldn't be surprised
it they either killed the weaker grubs for paint or whatever
else or gathered them up to be dealt with by another troll. This
is not a happy daycare people. On that note, I'm going to
explain why the jade bloods have this job. It is not for their
compassion or patience or whatever other characteristics they
might have. It's because they can walk in the sun. That is such
a huge advantage over other trolls that the hierarchy wanted to
keep them from getting any ideas. So when they get to be so many
years old, they are sent far underground, far away from the sun,
and far far away from anything that might make them realize that
they do have a huge advantage over even the Condesce herself.
When someone has a special advantage over another, that other
person will try to level the playing fields as much as they can.
It only make sense. Because with that kind of advantage, the
jade bloods could rule over Alternia rather than the
sea-dwellers. That basically throws the entire hemospectrum out
the window and who would ever want that? Now back to what I was
saying. If you're from Alternia and not fighting, then you're
either working to create weapons or fixing ships or governing
something or making/doing something that brings the highbloods
amusement so you don't get culled. This applies to modern
Alternia at least. In ancient times when the ancestors lived,
things may have been different with more on planet trading going
on and more freedoms in that aspect. It was a lot easier to hide
on Alternia then than it might be to hide as an Alternian now.
I'd imagine that along with taking all the adults off planet,
the Condesce also tightened up regulations and rules to make
sure no one was plotting against her and more specifically, the
hemospectrum. Two rebellions in a lifetime is two too many. But
a large majority of Alternian culture is still just Hussie
either being lazy or wanting to keep things similar so he can
make puns. He likes his puns.
Beforus culture is another matter. The hemospectum works the
same but the hemocaste system does not. Since I've already
written a ridiculous amount and you're purrobably getting bored
by now, I'm going to try to keep this short (hopefully). Beforus
was so much kinder than Alternia comparing the two is like
comparing Elmo and Hitler. As a society, Beforus's goal was the
betterment of everyone, not betterment of the elite and everyone
else can go die in a whole. The highbloods were expected to take
care of everyone below them as best they could. So purple took
care of blue, teal took care of yellow, and bronze even took
care of rust if they can. Now this doesn't mean there wasn't any
crime or poverty. It's not in a troll's, or any species for that
matter, programming to be the model of morality. There was just
less of it than there is on Alternia. Like, a lot less. Which is
also why 'cull' on Beforus had a completely different meaning
than it did on Alternia. For Beforus, to 'cull' someone was to
adopt and coddle them. Since they also weren't as focused on
warfare and weapons and all that happy nightmare-inducing stuff,
they probably focused more on art, literature, and physiology.
Kind of like Athens and Sparta. Beforus is Athens and Alternia
is Sparta. There we go. That's a much better comparison than
Elmo and Hitler. That being said, I'm not going to tell you why
Beforus is so different from Alternia other than Doc Scratch's
involvement in the success of the beta troll's session. Why am I
not going to tell you? Because that's one big huge spoiler than
I'm going to ruin for you at a different point in time. When
that happens, all sense will be made. Until then, tough nuts.
Unfortunately, there isn't much information on Beforus, in the
comic or otherwise but I speculate that because of the way
Beforus worked, it was very boring for some trolls. When
someone's bored, they start doing weird things. This is probably
where Porrim, Damara, and Meenah came in to play, though Meenah
was more for pressure from the throne as well as large amounts
of boredom. I don't know about Kurloz. Just don't trust people
who wear their underwear on the outside. That's all I have to
say about any of the Makaras.
As I may have mentioned at any point in time ever during this
mountain of words, THIS SECTION IS LARGELY HEADCANNON. You don't
have to use any of this shizz but I would suggest you at least
take some of this into consideration when creating a troll
because it makes sense!! And it explains stuff!! And it's even
REALISTIC. Wow. Pretty awesome idea don't you think?
