Lightningstar walked up to the fresh-kill pile and poked a piece
of prey with dissatisfaction. What kind of food stock was this?
There was barely enough to fill her own stomach. Maybe that was
an exaggeration, but she didn't like the looks of the scrappy
supply. She turned around and called out, her voice ringing
through the tunnels, "Aye, anyone up for a hunting patrol??"

Of course, at the request to go hunting, Muddypaw turned his
nose up. He didn't like being dragged down by others, and often
went hunting alone. Of course, with his mentors permission and
with extra caution. Yet, when he recognized the voice of his
leader, he fluffed out his fur and strolled over.
"I'm sure my mentor won't miss me for a bit." he grinned,
flexing his claws. He was hoping to prove himself to the leader.
Maybe he could finally get that promotion he was waiting for.
Or, maybe not. He hoped for the former.

Maplefur heard the offer to hunt and ears pricked up, she
bounded over to her leader. "I'd love to go on a hunt." Maplefur
loved hunting.

Two was good enough for her. With a lash of her long, feathery
tail, Lightningstar revealed a dashing smile and walked forward.
"Great! Let's get going then," she said, already heading towards
the entrance without waiting for an answer. If anyone else
wanted to join, they would have to catch up.

and a spring in her step. This'll be fun.

Muddypaw followed close as well, keeping his head high. There
was nothing that would keep him from trying to impress his
leader. His tail swished as he, still, kept a respectable
distance from Lightningstar, matching stride for stride with
Maplefur. [b]"Where are we going to hunt?"

"I was thinking around the west side of the mountain, you know,
near the base. It's pretty clear and I can always find a few
critters there," Lightningstar replied, leading the small band
out of camp's caves and into the bright afternoon sunlight. She
raised her head and breathed in the fresh open air, which she
really appreciated after being in the cool darkness most of the
day. "Or we could go the other way and try the stream. What do
you two think?" she asked thoughtfully, her shining yellow eyes
trailing her surroundings instead of looking towards them.

returning from a short walk he felt he needed when he spotted
the small patrol. Were they going out hunting? He could help
with that. The young apprentice soon padded up, a bit quicker
than he normally would've walked, and looked up at
Lightningstar. "Are you going hunting? Could I come too?"

Lightingstar slowed when she saw the grey-brown tom heading
their way. She gave a bright smile. "'Course you can," she
replied, quickly returning to her brisk walk just ahead of the
others. She remembered Cactuspaw's skills in hunting well as
well as Maplefur's. Combined with her experience and Muddypaw's
determination to succeed, they'd stock up the fresh-kill pile in
no time.
