i miss the part where i was falling hard for you [ private, rae

Toothpaw stared down at his mouse, his appetite slipping away.
He didn't feel hungry. He didn't feel anything. I guess you
could say he had been feeling hollow and depressed ever since
the tornado, which was kind of a long time. After spending every
day with his annoying siblings, it was hard not to miss their
presence despite much of their time together being unpleasant.
They were still his family. He nudged the mouse away and rested
his chin on his paws. Maybe he just needed a distraction, or
something else to put his mind to. But whenever he tried that,
he just fell back into desolation all over again.
Angelic was what kept him going, and what kept him feeling, as
much as he didn't want to admit it to himself. He thought he had
grown independent over the years, and yes, he closed up more.
But he depended on his friend now more than ever. But he
couldn't just follow her around forever, could he? She had
kittens to take care of, and though he saw her everyday, it
sometimes felt like she had a whole other life apart from him.
He never wanted them to grow apart, but he was afraid if he got
any closer, he would ruin their friendship. So he was just stuck
here in this weird middle ground where he continued to hide his
true feelings more and more while she started her own life and
family. I guess that's what you get for crushing on your best
friend.

[ HEY WOH LOOK AT THIS THREAD I WONDER, WHAT WOULD HAPPENED, IF
I, REPLEID ]
Angelic had chosen the "if I don't think about it, it never
happened" route to hide her sadness about the tornado. This
route meant throwing herself into her work. Full time mother,
warrior apprentice, and best friend to Toothpaw. No more messed
up tigress-in-a-cat body adopted daughter who once lived in
drama clan. No, that Angelic never happened. That world didn't
exist.
With this mindset, Angelic found herself always busy, but rarely
sad. It was a good enough exchange, she thought. But with this
mindset also pushed away a possible understanding for someone
else's sadness. Someone who didn't choose the same coping method
as her - someone like Toothpaw, who wanted to continuously live
in the past. Still, Angelic knew he needed someone to lean on
and, deep down, so did she. So, she worked hard to keep their
friendship going. She offered him prey that she caught, asked
him to watch the kids so that he would be less lonely, would sit
with him in silence. Anything.
It was no secret that Angelic had a crush on Toothpaw, too. Just
like he did with her. Still, neither of them said anything, both
in fear of losing the friendship. Angelic was waiting for him to
make the first move, just like her story books. She knew that it
probably wouldn't happen - Toothpaw was much to quiet and shy to
do that. Or at least, he was, back in the world that didn't
exist. Angelic was unsure if he only grew into a bigger wimp, or
changed into the opposite. She didn't know which she preferred.
The tail tip of the apprentice flicked as she left the nursery,
her children sound asleep. They definitely took up most of her
time, but thankfully they would be apprentices soon. Maybe, just
maybe, she could become a warrior before then? Angelic blinked
away the thought. She wanted to wait until Toothpaw was ready.
She wanted to rank up with him. Maybe such a moment would usher
him to ask her out? That would be interesting.
Anyways, she spotted Toothpaw, pushing away a mouse that he
didn't seem to want to eat. The fem found it odd, as it seemed
her crush was also becoming increasingly thin. She took a
detour, avoiding her afternoon hunt and trotting over to him.
She bounced the piece of prey back in front of him, on
"accident", and settled down in front of said prey. "Hey,
Toothpaw. I think your food got away from you there." she
purred, a small smile on her face. "I brought it back. You
seemed kind of sad to see it go." she offered a giggle, only to
cut herself off. Childish jokes weren't really meant for almost
warriors. And this joke was a lie to cover up her own worry.
Well, it wasn't going to cover up anymore.
"Toothy, are you alright? You seem... I don't know. Down?" she
asked, her ear twitching as she tried to make eye contact with
her best friend.
