well that wasn't long at all. [open, joining/return]

I'll just spare you the details and troubles that Inkheart had
to go through in order to not take someone else's life. Trust
me, there were a lot of troubles. But he came on top with a
nice, lithe, teenager-aged panther body. A bit of scarring
already littered the pelt, along with a gash along his throat
that he had to use spirit powers to heal up as much as he could
(it still dripped a bit.) But, thankfully, he did it.
He took a bit to get used to the body, walking towards
EverestClan once more. He stopped at the border and sat down. He
noted that his size seemed to have carried over from his old
body, meaning that he was still just that little bit bigger than
       a normal sized panther. Nice.

Emberstar caught a very unfamiliar scent while out patrolling.
It had a bit of cat in it, a bit of something she knew, but
other than that she didn't really recognize it. The leader
followed the trail which led to the large panther waiting at the
border. Her eyes widened slightly for a moment when she saw him.
Whoa. She was..not expecting that. "Excuse me? Can you tell me
your name and why you are here?" the orange tabby asked the
panther, her amber eyes now narrowed with suspicion.

Fallenfire had also walked over. She flicked her ear, staring at
       the panther.

He put on a smile, showing off his purely whites. "My name is
Inkheart." he paused, thinking about letting that much sink in.
Ah, no. Why not draw it out a bit? "I'm here to return to the
Clan I was so brutally taken away from." he let out a soft
chuckle, his tail lashing behind him.

Shock covered Emberstar's face and played with her emotions.
What..? No way, Inkheart was gone. She saw his dead body. She
touched it. Why was this monster making such a cruel joke about
her dear friend? But then again, how did he even know about him-
       Wait.
       Wait.
Inkheart was brutally murdered by, she suspected, someone much
larger than him since he was pretty brawny himself. Was the
murderer just waltzing around in front of their doorstep,
rubbing and smearing in their faces what he had done? That he
didn't give a care in the world? Tears formed around her eyes
and she started to feel sick. She narrowed her orange eyes and
glared at him for a while longer, still deep in thought. He
could be telling the truth, even if it didn't make any sense.
She wanted that hope and had been holding onto it ever since she
found him dead. Everything in her wanted him to be alive.
Emberstar took a few bold steps toward him, the fact that he was
a few times her size not really mattering to her at this point.
       "You..You are Inkheart?"

Oh. Oh no. He had gone too far with his teasing. The panther
immediately hunched over, holding out a large paw to try and
wipe away the other's tears. "Emberstar, don't cry. I never seen
you cry before, and I don't intend to see it any time soon.
Especially for a stupid reason like me." he murmured, his
roundish ears craning. [b]"But, yes. I'm Inkheart. I can prove
       it, too, if you wish."

Emberstar felt so confused when the panther suddenly switched
from confident to very concerned and..sorry? She was surprised
but didn't pull away when his wide black paw wiped her tears
from her eyes. The leader felt her heart sink with guilt for
thinking he was the murderer for even a second. If this wasn't
Inkheart, the loyal warrior who stood beside her for all this
time, then she must have gone mad. And she was staring at a
panther, so she wouldn't be surprised if she did. "Oh my god-
Inkheart..? But why are you- how are you..?" she became
speechless in her moment of bafflement, but she gestured towards
his panther body with her arms in hopes it would make her
       questions clear.

He kept his posture, placing his paw back on the ground. "Why am
I a panther?" he finished her question, and let out a quiet
chuckle. "Well, I wasn't ready to die, you know. And my old
body... Well, that wasn't gonna last." he paused, reaching under
his gash to feel his neck wound. "Oh, I also might need medical
attention. This body is also pretty banged up." he let out a bit
       of laughter.

That didn't totally answer her question, but she figured it
would have to be enough for now. Inkheart needed to get help
first. "I..I see, alright. Let's take you back to camp and have
Fallenfire take a look at you," Emberstar said, glancing over at
the medicine cat and then back at Inkheart. She stared at him
for a second. She still couldn't believe it, but I guess spirits
possessing new bodies hadn't been unheard of in this world. The
leader sighed and smiled, clearing her throat before speaking.
"Come on, then. I'm sure you're well enough to walk if you made
it all the way over here," she said and began heading towards
       camp.
