stygianflare had been thinking of doing this for a while. at
least, the last week or so. so, behind her back, she held two
similar chains made of silver that she had stolen from an
undisclosed location. the jet black feline called out,
"phoenixfeather? can you come here?"

"What is it, Styg?" the feline trotted over to her girlfriend,
head tipped to the side. It was always a joy to see
Stygianflare's appearance, well, anywhere. The other always
cheered her up, no matter the situation. She sat down, curling
her somewhat fluffy tail around her paws.

"so, i know it hadn't really been that long. i mean, it's been a
couple of months but still..." she paused, a sheepish grin
taking the place of a smile on her face. "i'll just get to the
point." she pulled the bracelets from behind her, as rings
wouldn't fit on them. "um..." she blushed a bit, glad her fur
covered it. "will you, uh... marry me?" stygianflare glanced at
the ground, hoping she wouldn't be embarrassed.

Phoenixfeather felt as if time slowed down a bit, eyes widening.
Was she... just proposed to? Was she... was she ready? The
she-cat was far over Emptypromises. At least, she thought she
was. There was always his voice in the back of her head, and
worries that she was betraying him. But Styg... Styg just pushed
that voice away. Styg became that new voice. And instead of a
constant, pessimistic ringing in her ears whenever Emptypromises
had talked, it sounded as if bells rank when Styg talked. Calm
bells that just made her smile.
But, still, was she over him completely? What about her child?
Hallowspaw... He was the only thing she had left, connecting her
to Empty, and she wasn't going to cut him off for the sake of
forgetting about her dead ex. That would be a thing she could
never do. What about Styg? She had a kid, too. Granted, that was
a r.pe litter, and she was sure that her girlfriend didn't like
talking about it but...
Were they rushing things? Were either of them ready? Time caught
up with the orange feline, her jaw going slack as she tried to
find words. She allowed her eyes to finally rest on her
partner's and, almost instantly, smiled. Of course she was
ready. It was time to throw out the old, and the pain that went
with it. Time to move on. And if Styg offered a chance to do
that, hell, she was going to take it.
"You know, since I'm so stubborn," she started, a faint giggle
in her voice as she reached over and kissed her girlfriend's
cheek. "I'm gonna say no." she whispered in her ear and, while
Styg was possibly shocked, snagged the bracelets, and offered
them back. "Alright, Styg, will you marry me?" she laughed,
referencing back to when she asked out Styg. Oh, she was so
scared, until the black she-cat turned it around on her. Good
times.

when she said that, at first she was pissed at herself. when
phoenixfeather then turned it around on her, she was then pissed
at pheo, but only for a short time. she gave no response,
instead hugging her and trying to give her a kiss. in all
honesty, this was her first real relationship. she had never
even dated someone else before, and here she was, engaged to
pheo. a slightly annoyed tone in her voice, she mumbled under
her breath, "love you, phii."

She slipped the bracelet onto her paw, smiling and wrapping her
paws around her fiance. "I love you too, Styg." she purred in
the other's ear.

a little laugh escaped her, putting the other bracelet on the
wrist. she nuzzled her, finally stepping back away from her. she
was ecstatic, since pheo had basically said yes.
