entire time. His black ear perked when he heard the thing about
Master Sergeant. Midnightpaw could haven volunteered, sure, but
he didn't think he was cut out for it. He felt as if he would be
taken as a joke if he volunteered. He acted way to old for his
age, mature, as some cats had called it. Maybe a semi-high rank
like Nurse or so but not Master Sergeant. Midnightpaw would much
rather work his way up to a rank like that, not just be given it
on a silver platter.
Where was the respect or honor in that? Nowhere, it was nowhere.
Did Midnightpaw like to answer his own rhetorical questions?
